"Ki, you ready to go?"

Nodding, Ki walked towards Jae and Mason. They had gathered a few members of the pack to recover some items from the wrecked pack house. Jae watched Ki carefully noticing the weird mood she was in. He hadn't seen her smile in a while and she had stopped talking for the most part. She stood at the mouth of the cave, staring at the water.

"Okay, everyone huddle up! We'll be back as soon as possible," Jae yelled, shifting as he jumped into the water.

Ki watched the small recovery team of wolves jump into the water and swim quickly to the surface. When the last wolf was in the water Ki shifted and jumped into the water herself. She forced a sad smile at those still in the cave before letting the water drain out. She turned and swam up to the surface, feeling exhausted. She climbed out of the water and shook off.

"Are you okay?" Jae asked Ki, the worry starting to show on his face.

"I'm fine. I promise," she said before walking on ahead into the trees.

Ki couldn't quite figure it out, but something felt wrong. Not like how it felt with Joey that one time. Something that made her feel lifeless. The earth was cold as she walked through the forest. She could hear every branch breaking, every step taken, the water rushing in the background. She looked around, Jae nowhere to be found. Lightheaded, she stumbled towards the pack house.

"Jae? Where did you go?" Ki whispered.

She heard Jae in the background yelling something, but she couldn't see him. Jae ran for Ki, as fast as he could. His heart pounded as he stared at the small metal dart in her back. Mason and the other wolves were right behind Jae. They looked around to find who shot her. Jae whined as he watched Ki's chin hit the floor. Her body slumped on the ground, the shine of her fur dimming. Her tails exploded, the force of it pushing Jae back a bit. Charging forward, Jae focused in on Ki.

"We need to get to her!" Jae yelled, on the verge of crying.

There was a feeling in his gut that if they didn't get to her and return her to the pack, everything would be over. A yelp escaped his throat as he ran into an invisible wall. He tried to move forward once more, but couldn't. Mason tried to walk towards Ki as well, but couldn't. Jae stood there feeling helpless. Their ears turned towards the right, the sound of small paws approaching.

"Stay away from her! She's mine!" Jae growled.

Ignoring Jae, the fox walked towards Ki. It pulled the dart out of her, and licked the small wound. Another fox soon appeared, but instead of moving  towards Ki it moved towards Jae.

"Get out of here."

"Give my sister back to me," Jae growled, baring his teeth.

"Why? So you can use her?"

"Leave him alone, Helena. He clearly doesn't remember much either," the fox near Ki spoke softly.

"Dorian-"

"Stop, and help me."

Jae watched the foxes shift into humans. A man and a woman stood before them, they didn't bother hiding their tails. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Nine tails. Like Ki. Jae's eyes flashed between Ki, Helena, and Dorian.

"Please," Jae begged, "Don't hurt her."

"If anyone is going to hurt her, it's you," Helena snapped.

"Helena, let's go." Dorian spoke, reigning her in.

Jae watched Dorian walk away with Ki in his arms. Helena smirked as she walked towards Jae, once again. She crouched down to face Jae head on. Closing her eyes, Helena blew her breath into Jae's face. Jae blinked and she was gone. Ki nowhere to be seen. He walked towards where Ki had collapsed and then towards where the foxes had disappeared into the forest.

"Jae!"

Jae heard Mason yell his name before he hit the ground.
