At home, Tyler works on his History homework. The front door opens and closes as he's writing down an answer. "Hey, honey. I'm home. How was school?" Kelly bellows from the kitchen. Tyler, being focused on his homework, answers lowly, "It was good. I made an acquaintance. His name is Josh."
"Really?" his mom walks into the dining room where Tyler is working and sits next to him. "That's great, Tyler!" she exclaims, hugging him, but trying to not suffocate him by squeezing too tightly. "Mom!" Tyler whines, trying to shove her off. "Sorry, Tyler," Kelly starts, getting off of Tyler, "I'm just really glad you made a friend on the first day of school!"
"Acquaintance Mom. Acquaintance." Tyler corrects her, going on with his homework. "Right," Kelly teases, chuckling.

Dinner

Tyler, Kelly and Chris sit around the dinner table, filling their plates and eating in silence. "So," his dad says. "What happened at school today? Your mom tells me you made a friend?" Tyler looks up from his plate, first looking at his mom and then his dad. "Acquaintance, and yeah. His name is Josh." Tyler answers, taking a mouthful of mashed potatoes. "Josh who?" his dad asks curiously. "Dun, I think. Josh Dun." Tyler answers again, now his voice muffled and hard to understand because of the food. "Tyler, manners. Don't talk with food in your mouth." Kelly snaps at Tyler. The brunette swallows his food and looks at his mother apologetically. His mom nods at the gesture. "Well, I think it's great that you met someone to hang out with." his dad says, smiling. Tyler smiles in response, along with a small nod. "Yeah, I'm glad too, Dad." Tyler answers.

The Next Day

Tyler pushed the button on his alarm clock again and yawned, rubbing his eyes. Again, repeating his routine, he checks his phone to see if he's gotten any text messages from his mother. She likes to check in on him in the morning to make sure Tyler is up and ready.
He runs down to the bus stop on time and sees Josh standing there. He didn't realize that was his bus stop too. Even when they got off the bus. Probably because when Tyler got off, he turned his music on full blast and Josh got off after him. "Hey, Tyler!" Josh smiles in Tyler's direction and Tyler smiles back. The slightly smaller boy stands next to the redhead and they stand in an awkward silence. "So," Josh starts, turning to Tyler "Where are you from?" Josh asks. "I come from here in Columbus originally, but I came from Grove City just recently" Tyler answers shyly. "Oh wow. Grove city is pretty cool!" Josh exclaims. "Yeah, I guess. But every time I move I always don't have enough time to make friends." Tyler claims. "I know what you mean. The first time I moved to Columbus, I had no friends for a couple of days. I have like... One friend now. You." Josh smiles and looks down. Tyler's heart fluttered when he heard he was Josh's only friend. But he felt bad too. "Only me? Surely there has to be other people." Tyler exclaims, smiling. Josh shook his head in disagreement. "No, I've been a loner. Mostly because people say I talk too much." Josh sighs. Tyler frowned. He didn't think Josh talked too much. "Well, I don't think you do, Josh." Tyler smiles at him, his face blushed with a bright pink. Josh smiles at Tyler and laughs. "Thanks, man." Josh says.

The bus finally arrived after 10 minutes of waiting. Tyler and Josh got on and went to the back. They sat side by side. "Oh and by the way," Josh rustled through his pocket, looking for something. "I meant to give this to you yesterday, but I was too scared." He hands Tyler a small slip of paper. Tyler, assuming it was a number, opened the slip of paper only to find his face flushed with embarrassment and a huge smile. The paper read "You're super cute".

A/N

I think this is getting pretty cute if you ask me. But, I'm the writer so of course I'm gonna think that. On to the next chapter. If I can come up with how I'm going to start it. See ya later, people! ~❤
