Book 2 - As a Shining Star - 1 - 5

This book is written in different POV's, so please note that the character's name is stated in CAPS depending on whose POV it is, if it changes throughout the chapter. Some PoV's it doesn't so there are none.

Prologue

I walked over the mountain top still thinking about Honey, but I had new fresh worries on my mind, What if I didn't survive the winter?!? How will I be bale to find the Shining Stars? Will it be a lonely life before I do find them? When I looked up from my thoughts I couldn't believe my eyes, Honey was right the Slough Creek Vally was beautiful! I ran down the slopes of the mountain, not worrying about a thing, that was until I saw a very big sliver colored male step out from behind a tree, but the strange thing was, he didn't even notice me. As he walked away I decided to follow him.

Chapter One- Rose and Soul

I walked behind this male, using everything that Honey had taught me about stalking prey. The male looked behind him, before he slipped into a cave in the side of a rocky hill. For the first time I noticed he was carrying a bundle of plants! I thought to myself, What a weirdo! My thoughts were interrupted when I heard more wolves coming, so I quickly ducked in behind a rock and watched, "Hey Soul did he go this way?" a tan she-wolf called.

"Rose, what is the big hurry? Moon can take care of this one on his own. After all he is the head Healer of the Shining Stars." the wolf called Soul said.

My ears perked up in interest now, I found them! I found the Shining Stars Pack! I was so happy I would have howled myheartout, but when I remembered the two females I decided I had better not. So instead I slowly back tracked around the rocky boulders and came into view of the two females, as if I had just walked out into the open, not hidden behind the rock right beside them, "Hello." Rose said.

"Hi." Soul called with a protective edge to her voice.

"Do either of you know where the Shining Stars Pack is?" I asked.

"Yes, in fact we are part of the pack its self." Rose said, a wide smile showing up across her face.

I starred at her, "Would it be possible for me to join?" I asked.

"Yes." Rose said wagging her tail. "Follow me."

We took off going back the way we came, but instead of going straight we were going at a slightly Northwest direction. I wondered to myself about how fun being a Shining Star was going to be.

Chapter Two- A New Family

I followed the two she-wolfs known as Rose and Soul into a clearing that was so beautiful that my head was spinning. On both my left and right there were wolves watching me curiosity shinning in their eyes. I looked around this lovely clearing and I noticed something that was probably pretty important, out of the 30 some wolves that I had seen just walking into the camp only about four or five were black, including me. I walked up close to Rose and whispered into her ear, "Rose, why are there so few black wolves around?"

As soon as I had said the words "black" and "wolves" Rose spun around so fast I thought she was going to fall over, "There are so few black wolves around because the leaders have a hard time trusting some of the black wolves that roam this forest, because we share a border line with some very fearsome wolves known as..." I growled, cutting her off before she could finish, with my fur was standing on end, teeth bared, tail raised.

"The Black Winds" I could tell she was a little taken aback because of my low growl and as she noticed my body's posture she slowly understood.

"I see you have had some experience with the Black Wind Pack before too... but don't worry Duckheart there are four reasons why you will get excepted into this pack with great ease. The first one being you don't smell of this forest... or even of anything my nose has ever sniffed before, meaning you aren't from around here. The second, your personality... if I were the Black Winds I wouldn't ever let you leave the pack... or for that matter get on your bad side... scary." Rose stopped here and I laughed as she shivered. Even though we had only met each three hours ago we were already getting along well and we both had a pretty good idea of how the other acted, " The third reason your reaction to any wolf saying "Black Winds." She paused as I tensed up and looked about ready to kill something, "Even the greatest of the sly wolves couldn't act like that when their own pack name is mentioned. The fourth and last is because... I've already taken a liking to you." At this I smiled and bowed my head as a thanks.
