We Meet Again - Chapter 18 -

Chapter Eighteen – Convince Her!! 

( Part 1 )

I watched as Shadow reappeared, and ran to greet him, love brimming in my eyes, “So how’d it go!?! What’s been going on over there?” I said, after licking my mate’s face. 

He looked at me, seeming to have nothing in his eyes; I looked at him, stunned, Shadow walked away from me without saying a word, so I followed wondering what was going on.

SHADOW 

I walked past Swift, not saying a word, straight to Duck, who was sitting on top of our den; it was a big boulder with a hole dug underneath it. 

“Duckheart!” I yelled up to her. She whipped around, giving me a look that could kill.

“Shadow…?” She tested, carefully watching me.

“Down! Now!” I growled, pointing with my tail.

DUCK

I watched him, about ready to start yelling at him, I was furious, and didn’t like the way Shadow was talking to me, and I was going to show that to him, a little hard words from an alpha never hurt anyone nor did a small fight… one that might even go to the point of ripping off an ear.

I turned to jump down, and give Shadow a piece of my mind, but as soon as my feet hit the ground and I rounded on him, I saw the fear in Swift’s eyes for her mate, it sent a jolt through my heart, making me remember every time that I had felt the fear of losing my mate… 

I stopped, looked to Shadow, then Swift, and held her gaze, I sighed and decided to go with the words, “Now listen here bucky!! I don’t appreciate being talked to like that!!” I growled fiercely, walking up to Shadow and growling in his face. 

He took a step back, obviously a little surprised by my outburst, “What is all of this about… huh!?” I paused, the anger that had been swelling up inside me for so long about to burst, “Did Ghost go and plant some stupid idea into your head?!?” 

By now the whole pack had gathered, everyone looked around, acting confused, “Don’t even try that act with me!! I’m not stupid!! I know what he has been doing, and I know that you all have been passing the news of what has been happening in the Phantom Hills Pack through our pack!” I growled, my eyes sweeping furiously over the wolves surrounding me.

“Duck…” Sef started, but I cut her off, my anger about ready to be unleashed.

“What I don’t understand is why all of you came with me… and want to go back with him!!” I said, my voice rising.

“Duck! Just go say you’re sorry to him!!” Shadow yelled.

My wrath was now unleashed, “ME! SAY! I’M! SORRY! TO! HIM!” I screamed, emphasizing each word.

Everyone looked around, and Shadow realized what he had said, “Duck… please just go and talk to him!!” He said, growling.

“I...!” But I was cut off, by Dew.

“Mother… I loved it when I had you both by my side, I felt… protected when I was near you both. I hated it the day you walked out on him. I was torn in two, we all hate it… we KNOW that you two are great together… the most fearsome pair around…” She stopped laughing, “You remember that one time when daddy almost bit Shadow’s head off for licking your cheek!?!” 

She paused again as the pack started to laugh, as everyone recalled that day. I was the only one that stood stalk still, not moving, only listening, “And how about the day with the bear and you losing your memory… he was there by your side the whole time… Minus the fact that you had no idea who he was… and that I wasn’t even there, but I’ve heard about it, because it was so daddy, to always be there for you…” She trailed off.
