As Kali was sitting at her desk in her room all she was thinking about was Aiden. His appearance made her uncomfortable yet at the same time happy. If only she didn't act the way she did years ago.

---

It was the last day of school, the summer holidays started soon and everybody had this farewell-feeling since most of them will be on different schools. The class will be separated and Kali knew that she won't talk to some of them ever again.

"Kali," Aiden shouted. He was younger and his hair a bit longer but the expression in his eyes was the same. He was as tall as Kali who looked at him angry and turned her back to him. She could imagine how confused Aiden was since just yesterday they were playing together with no worries.

"Kali! Kali, what's wrong," He kept shouting but she didn't turn around. Instead, she moved away and left him. Aiden was too confused to follow her as he saw the retreating Kali. During the day he tried multiple times to make her talk to him but Kali would glare at him and in the end Aiden couldn't tell her he would move away. Kali knew that already since their parents were friends but she stayed at home and refused to give him even the smallest chance to talk to her.

---

She remembered this time as if it was yesterday. The memory was so clear that it almost scared Kali . She left her best friend at that time.

Of course I know everything, I lost him. But why did I even do that? It's been so many years, I don't even know anymore my reasons for this behaviour.

She wrote one sentence on the paper in front of her but then she was distracted again. After two hours, she still didn't finish her homework yet, Kali heard the door. She left her room to go downstairs and saw her mother.

"Hi mum," She greeted. Anne had two full bags of groceries so Kali took them and placed them on the kitchen table. Then she started to unpack the things inside.

"Hey dear, how was your first day at school?" Her mum asked and joined her duaghter. Kali gasped.

"Aiden is back in town!" She exclaimed. To Kali's surprise her mother only shrugged.

"I know," She explained as she saw the confused look on her daughter's face. "I kept in touch with his mother, you remember Lily?" Kali nodded. "She and Rick married and they even have a daughter, Rosalie, who is now four years old." Kali's eyes widened.

"Aiden has a little sister?" She couldn't believe her mother kept this information for herself. "Why wouldn't you tell me about this? This is a huge thing!" Kali was hurt.

"You didn't want to know anything from Aiden at all, why should I?" Anna asked her daughter frowning which made Kali shut up immediately.

She's right.

Her mother noticed the mood and changed the topic.

"Did something else happen at school? Some interesting rumors?" She asked whereat Kali looked at her thankfully.

"Not really. Someone told me that Tracy Scott cheated on her boyfriend with a summer love and that he is an asshole for breaking up with her," She giggled about the stupidity of those girls. "I got Mrs Johnson as my tutor again which is nice because I like her."

"Mrs Johnson was the friendly teacher?"

"Yup," Kali confirmed her mother's question. "That's her. Aiden is in that class, too."

"That is good. He will need help," Anne sighed. "Changing the school for the last year is challenging." Kali nodded.

"What are we eating today for dinner?" She asked her mother.
