Lost In Time

Never ending fight

It seemed like for every Hydra agent you eliminated, three would take their place. You found yourself back to back with Clint. Surrounded by Hydra agents. It's been hours the fighting has raged on. You got bruises and cuts all over, but nothing too serious. Clint had a cut on his head that was bleeding pretty badly. He insisted that he was fine.
"I don't know how long I can fight on" you say to Clint.
"You're not allowed to die, you hear me? That's an order." said Clint as he look over his shoulder to you.
You could hear it in his voice that he was tired. So were you. After the first wave of agents, Cruz was fatally injured. It was just you and Clint against the never ending army of Hydra agents.
"I think we're done for. There's just too many" you say as load the last clip into your gun.
"Then we'll go out fighting " he says
Suddenly, something falls out of the sky with a graceful crash. When the dust settles you see the red metal suit.
"Am I late to the party?" Said Tony as his suit goes in to defense mode, revealing all the rockets and guns. Shortly after Rhodes lands next to him.
"I'd say we got here right on time." Said Rhodes.
A sense of relief washes over you. You had never been so happy to see Tony Stark and James Rhodes in your life.

5 days later
Tony had taken you and Clint to the compound to stay with him. While this whole thing with Hydra was happening, Tony promised Steve he'd keep you safe. You had no idea what was going on. No one was telling you anything. All you knew is Hydra infiltrated SHIELD and that was it.

You wanted to leave. This place was massive and beautiful but it wasn't home. Clint and Tony insisted that you stay. Steve didn't want you at his place. He never gave Tony a reason why.
"He'd just said to keep you here" said Tony when you had asked.
Today when breakfast was served Tony didn't make an appearance. After you ate you went looking for him. You found him in the lab, working on what looked like a piece of his suit.
"Good Morning" he said, never looking up from his work.
"Have you heard anything from Steve" you asked.
"No, not a word." He replied.
"I'm worried about him." You say as you walked closer to him. He looks up from his work station.
"Hes Captain America, he'll be fine." He replied with a soft smile. That made you smile.
"I'm going to be heading out to my mansion for a while. I have some work to do and I always work better there. You and Clint can stay here. You'll be well taken care of. Plus you'll have Jarvis to help you with everything you don't understand about the technology" Said Tony.
"Do you have to go?"
"Yeah, I have a lot of work to do, and I miss Pepper" he said with a sad smile.
Before you could say anything, Clint busted into the room.
"Fury...he passed away." He said.
"How do you know that?" you asked.
"Nat, she called. She wasn't on long, she had a feeling the phone was tapped.
The room was silent. You hadn't gotten to know Nick Fury well. No one did, but you couldn't help but feel sad.
"How did it happen?" asked Tony.
"She didn't give me details." Replied Clint.
"What the hell is happening?" You said as you walked across the room. Neither gave an answer.
"Did she say where she was?" You asked Clint.
"Washington D.C." replied Clint. You gave Clint a look. Tony saw it too.
"I know what you're thinking, and No! I told Steve and Nat I'd keep you guys safe, so don't even think about it." Said Tony pointing back and forth between you and Clint.
Clint put his hands up in surrender. You just smiled.
"We're not gonna do anything" said Clint.

About an hour later Tony left. You were in the living room watching tv when the show cuts off for a special report.
"Clint!" You called when you saw that terrible sight. Clint runs in.
"what's going on?" He says, out of breath.
"Look" you say pointing at the tv.
"Holy shit" says Clint.
It was a horrific scene. 3 Helicarriers falling from the sky in Washington D.C.
"We need to get there now. Can you fly Tony's helicopter?" You ask.
"Yeah, gear up and I'll meet you at the helicopter pad in ten." He said. He jogged away. You did as he said.

When you get there he's already in the helicopter, flipping switches. You got in and he handed you a headset. You put it on.
" You understand that we're not going to have any backup. It's just me and you right" said Clint.
"Lets do this" you say with a smile.....
