Chapter 20

I say goodbye to Carter and mason drives off.

I turn on the radio to break the silence that was consuming us. I haven't spoken a word to him since yesterday.

I haven't even told carter. And I don't plan on doing that.

I break out of my thoughts when I hear masons voice.

I snap my head in his direction.

"Julie I'm really sorry for-". But I stop him before he could finish.

"Mason what you did was unacceptable. Why can't you accept the fact that me and carter are dating now" I whisper.

"Julie I can't accept the fact that your dating him"he sighs.

"Why not?"I snap at him. He jumps at my tone.

"Because it pains me to see you with somebody else that's not me"he booms.

I shrink back at his voice. Was he serious. Was he even telling the truth? These are questions that are unknown.

"Do you have feelings for me?"I question.

"Yes I do"he whispers.

It felt like my heart beated faster.

"You do? So tell me why did you make out with that girl if you had feelings for me?"

"Because I needed to get some thoughts out of my head"he mumbles.

"Mason I don't have feelings for you".

He snaps his head up and looks at me surprised.

"No I know your lying"he whispers.

"I'm not lying". I look down at my lap.

I felt a finger lift my chin up. I meet masons gaze.

"Look me in the eye and say you don't have feelings for me".

I take a deep breathe and say the words that will hurt me for the rest of my life.

"I don't have feelings for you mason". He looked hurt by my words.

I just wanted to hold him and tell him it wasn't true. But what I have with carter right now is great. I don't want to ruin that.

He leans back in his seat and punches the steering wheel making me jump.

"I hate you Julie"he mumbles before pulling back on the road.
