I used to think every day was going to be the same until I met those who lived in absolute darkness. The summer of my high school junior year was almost over, and like every year my family and I would spend the last two weeks of summer at Disney. Since we come over every year there was not much to see or to enjoy, we were heading to Disney Quest now, the passersby are not one bit interesting they just seem to pass by, nothing to see. My life is good and school is also decent so I have nothing to complain about, though something seems to be lacking. I look out the window of the car again and glanced at the crowd of people. The city started to light up as if to resist the twilight that was getting closer by the minute and when a small drop of sweat went down my neck all I thought about was how this is by far the hottest summer I have experienced.
"Are we there yet", Amelia asks for about the fifth time, my parents let out a sight and choose to ignore the question but with my small temperament I turn to her.
"Can you stop asking the same question over and over again?"
"I wasn't talking to you", she simply says and goes back to playing on her phone.
"Who says I was talking to you?"
"You are, right now", she answers, but I stay quiet ignoring her.
"Stop ignoring me!", she whines but once again I stay silent.
"Mom!"
"Alexa aren't you a little too old to play this game with your sister?", my mom says giving me the look through the front mirror. I know not to get into an argument with her, even If my points are right she would use the "I'm a lawyer and your mother" card so I simply apologize and go back to questioning the feeling called boredom.
Surprisingly we arrive faster than I had expected so as soon as the car is parked I jump off my seat only to be stopped by my dad.
"You have your phone with you?"
"Yes"
"Money?"
"Yes"
"Don't waste it all on candy"
". . . ok. Can I go already? They are waiting for me", he gives me a look but nods his head, and so with a fast pace I walk away.
I stop at the small gift shop in the corner, I'm surprised it's still open since there is never anyone in here and only one employ working. I walk in and look around to give my friends time to get here, also to cool off, it is really hot. Small and big stuff animals all over the place, the decoration was simple but it did a decent job at catching to the costumer's eye.
