Chapter 3

SKYLARS POV

I was sitting on the couch and I heard someone walk in. I was thinking it was mum but Bree walked in.

“Hey Skylar. Are mum and dad home?” She asked.

“Uh mum is in the kitchen and dad is….i don’t know go ask mum.”  I said.

“Gee thanks for your help.” She said as she sat down on the couch. I looked at her as she sat down, and she looked at me.

“What?” She asked.

“I thought you were looking for mum.”

“Yes, but she will end up coming in to the living room later.” She said.

“I doubt it.” I said. She looked up from her phone.

“What do you mean?”

“Mum’s pretty busy in the kitchen and she is most likely going to be in there for awhile.” She sighed and got up and went to the kitchen.

AUBREY’S POV

I walked in to the kitchen to see mum in an apron and she was on the phone.

“No mum. The girls are going to be very busy until after their ball.” She said. I assumed she was talking to nana. She rolled her eyes and ran her left hand through her hair. I looked at the ring that dad gave her when they got married. It was a beautiful ring. Mum had told me that it was a replica of my great grandmother, Diana’s wedding ring. I don’t know much about her. Dad never really talks much about her because it brings him such sorrow and I would understand why. Dad lost his own mother when he was young. All I really know about my great grandmother is what I see in the articles every when the anniversary of her death comes around.

“Mum I don’t know! Things are very hectic around here with the ball just around the corner! I don’t think it’s best for you guys to come and stay over.” Mum said with a sigh. “look mum I have to go.” She said and then hung up. She took in a deep breathe. “Hi sweetie. Did you have fun?” She asked.

“Oh. Yea. He was very sweet and what not.” I said. She smiled and looked at me.

“That’s nice sweetheart.”

“Mum.”

“Yes honey?”

“I need to tell you something.” I said.

“And what’s that?” I sighed and mum looked up at me.

“Bree, is everything alright?” Mum said as she put down the towel and wiped her hands on her apron.

“Harry had asked about me tonight..” Mum looked at me straight in the eye.

“What did you say?”

“I told him..” She dropped the towel and put her hand over her mouth.

“Bree. Why?” she asked in complete shock.

“Look mum I had to!”

“What do you mean you had to?” She asked raising her voice. And mum NEVER raises her voice.

“Because he thought I looked like her and I told him! It’s not like he wasn’t going to find out!” I yelled.

“Aubrey! That doesn’t mean you needed to tell him so soon!”

“Yes I did! I don’t see what the big deal is!” At this point Skylar walked in and was just standing there watching mum and I fight.

“There is a reason it’s such a big deal Aubrey!” You could put you and Skylar’s life in danger!”
