"Cassidy, let me go." Goldie command.
"Why should I?" Cassidy asked. "The fun is just starting."
"Guys?" Goldie called.
"They won't find you in time." Cassidy said. "In fact, they will never find you."
"That's not true." Goldie said.
"That's what you think." Cassidy said. "Get her."
Two birds came into view, both were mockingbirds.
"You've got it, boss." The male said.
One held Goldie down, the other kept her beak shut.
"Now." Cassidy said. "Time to trick the others. I'll be right back."
Cassidy left to find the others. She landed near Fire, who was sitting atop the tree.
"Hey Fire." Cassidy said. "What are you doing?"
"Cassidy." Fire said turning towards her. "What did you with Goldie?"
"I did nothing to her." Cassidy said. "I haven't seen her lately."
"Yeah right." Fire said. "Where is she?"
"I thought she was with you." Cassidy lied.
Fire looked away from her. He knew she did something with Goldie, but he had no evidence and couldn't prove it.
"I don't believe you." Fire said. "I know what you did. But until I can prove it, I can't do anything."
Cassidy watched Fire fly off to find the bluebirds.
"He'll never prove it." Cassidy said shaking her head. "Never."
Cassidy flew back to her hiding spot.
"One of you, watch for the others." Cassidy said. "They can't find us."
"Okay boss." One of the mockingbirds said.
He went to watch for the bluebirds and Fire, while his mate kept Goldie hostage.
Cassidy was sharping her claws, getting ready to kill Goldie. Goldie started to struggle, trying to free her break. Remembering that she had one wing free, she hit the mockingbird, freeing her break. Goldie called for help, but when Cassidy noticed, she quickly held her beak shut.
Fire heard Goldie's call for help, and gathered the bluebirds. Fire flew down into a hole at the base of the tree.
"I knew it." Fire said startling Cassidy.
The bluebirds took out the mockingbird guarding the entrance.
"Oh. You found me." Cassidy said, letting go of Goldie's beak. "I was only trying to save her from these mockingbirds."
"Yeah right." Austin said, grabbing the other mockingbird by the neck. "It's been a long time since I've killed a mockingbird. Now tell us what happened, and no one gets hurt."
"It's was boss." She said, pointing to Cassidy. "Please don't hurt me. I was only doing what I was told."
Goldie walked over to Fire and the bluebirds. "Told you they'd find me."
"But just because you're safe now, that doesn't mean you will be later." Cassidy said.
"Think again." A voice said.
Her parents came into the tree, and Cassidy backed into a corner.
"Mom, dad, I'm so glad you came." Cassidy started. "They are trying to..."
"Stop your lying." Her father said. "We know what you did."
"Your grounded." Her mother said. "Literally."
Cassie came in with a rope she made from leaves, and tied it Cassidy's feet.
"Your never coming out here again." Her father said.
"Your not allowed to leave the cage for two weeks." Her mother said. "And that's only part of the punishment."
"Mom." Cassidy complained. "I didn't do anything."
"You kicked most of the eggs out of the nest, you just tried to kill Goldie. Who knows what else you've done."
Cassidy went inside with her parents, Goldie was safe forever.
"Thanks for saving me." Goldie said.
"You don't need to thank us." Fire said. "We're your friends, and we'd do anything to keep each other safe."
They flew back up to the roof, to watch the trick or treaters.
"You know what?" Goldie said. "Halloween isn't so bad. Compared to what I've been through."
The others laughed.
"Oh Goldie." Fire said, putting his wing over her."THE END
