It has been a week since Luke and I met again and we became a couple ever since that happened. Not seeing someone who meant so much in your life broke my heart. Destiny had other plans.

It was the same thing that reunited me with Luke.

I stared at the ceiling thinking about what if Luke and I had never been adopted. Perhaps we could have ended up working in the orphanage either as teachers or caretakers. But we both knew we would get adopted at some point, and while I enjoyed what rested of my childhood and adolescence, I still felt an empty gap, reserved for Luke.

The last words make me remember my adolescence in high school and my adulthood in college years.

I had something with a guy whose name is Zachary, although I still think that he still thinks about me. We met in seventh grade and we became best friends ever since. When prom came approaching by, he asked me to be his date, and since I had no one else to go with and didn't want to go without a date, I accepted.

Flashback

When the day came, he came to my house and as soon as I heard the doorbell, I rapidly went downstairs so we could leave and avoid the embarrassing photo session my parents wanted, but as I was about to step out of the house, Mom came downstairs and took out her camera with a devilish smile. Why mom?

After that, Dad drove us to school. Zac got out of the car first. As I was about to get out, he waved his hand in front of me, indicating me to stay at my place. He closed the door and turned the other way of the car to open my side door. What a gentleman.

I got out and muttered my thanks as we linked arms and headed to school, but first I turned my head to see Dad forming a heart with both his hands and with a playful smile on his face. I just rolled my eyes with a smile and blew a kiss to him as he speed.

Inside, we went to hang out with other friends. We laughed, ate, made jokes. Teenage stuff. But when it was time for the dance, Zac gave me a sweet look. I couldn't say no to that. I was his date, after all.

The dance was slow and had a romantic aura. I didn't noticed, but I gained conscience when our heads touched. I blinked my eyes to see Zac's eyes which contained different emotions than mine. His contained love. I looked away because I had, and still have eyes, for Luke, so I didn't want to hurt him in any way. Zac's eyes were still on me, but with a frown on his face.

Once the dance ended, I looked into his eyes and gave him a forgiving look, he nodded his head understanding. We got out to get some fresh air. As I was blinking due to the tiredness, Zac suddenly took my hand in his and directed me a gaze.

Before I could react, his lips were on mine. I could feel his soft lips while he kissed me with passion, but I didn't returned the kiss. He doesn't know that I have kissed another boy before. Noticing that I never kissed him back, he quickly pulled off and looked away.

I felt bad, so I got close to him and before I could say a word, he turned his head towards me and said "I was attracted by you since the very first day we met. We spent a lot of time together and it wasn't until I realized that I not only had a crush on you, but always wanted to be with you. I love you, Magdalene."

Those words had a soft spot, but my heart already belonged to Luke. So I said, "Zac, while my feelings aren't fully developed, that doesn't stop us from being best friends. You will be one of my closest friends, always. I can assure you that. I have nothing against you liking or even loving me. They're your feelings and you decide who to love, and if I'm a person who you want in your heart, so be it." I said with a smile while looking at his eyes.
