PROLOGUE
The cold feeble light shining from the stars above only seemed to enhance the darkness of the forest. It offered no comfort to Sara as hot tears of frustration escaped her eyes to run down her reddened cheeks. The barren trees waved their empty branches mocking her. Her sore legs were bleeding from dozens of small cuts and shaking from exhaustion. After hours of being thoroughly lost, she was beyond her physical limits. Sara closed her tired eyes listening for any noise, anything that might mean she was near civilization. The only sounds that met her ears were the rustling of the night creatures, and the distant call of an owl. Sara opened her eyes and set off in the direction she hoped was home. As her protesting legs pushed her forward, her mind traveled back to that afternoon. She could still hear her mothers voice ringing in her ears.
