Everyone scatters and goes different directions, I walk into the woods and slide down against a tree and sit there with the numb feeling in my chest. I watch as Daryl digs in the dirt and pulls out worms, he brushes them off before eating them and repeating the process. I get up before killing yet another walker and then continuing my look through the woods. Daryl and I hear scratching sounds and we follow it to see Sasha, she shakes her head at us and we all decide to head back. "It's been a day and a half. They didn't find anything either" I say, "How do you know?" Sasha asks, "I just know" I say. "How much longer we got?" I ask, "60 miles" she says, "I wasn't talking about that" I say.
We're driving down the road when the car stops, "We're out of gas, just like the other one" Abraham says. "Then we walk from here" Rick says. We all grab our gear and start walking. I walk behind Daryl and Rick, listening to their conversation to distract myself from my pains. The constant nagging, pulling feeling in my chest grows as each step passes by. "We're not at our strongest. We'll get 'em when it's best. High ground, something like that. They're not going anywhere. It's been three weeks since Atlanta. I know you lost something back there" Rick tries to talk to Daryl. "She's hungry" Daryl says. "She's ok. She's gonna be ok" Rick says trying to be optimistic, "We need food, water" Daryl says. "We'll find some" Rick says. "It's gonna rain sooner or later" Rick says. "I'm gonna head out and see what I can find" Daryl says. "I'll go with you" I offer, "No I got it" he says. "Hey, don't be out too long" Rick says and I press forward, "You gonna stop me?" I ask. He ignores me and walks on, I follow after him.
"Anything?" I ask, "No. It's too dry" he says. "Maybe we should head back?" I ask, "You go" he says. "Daryl she saved Carol's life. She saved your life too, right?" I ask walking towards him, I hand him a knife, "It was hers" I say, "We're not dead" I say, "That's what you said. You're not dead Daryl. I know you and I know how you are. We're different but alike in so many ways Daryl, this isn't you" I say looking directly at him. "You have to let yourself feel it or it won't go away" I say looking at him, I brush his hair out of his face and kiss his forehead. He stares at the ground, "Come on" I say before turning around.
We're walking back when we hear walkers and see our whole group taking them on. I see Rick struggling with two Walkers and I see Maggie struggling too. I run over to Maggie and Daryl helps Rick. I stab the Walker in the head and start taking down as many as I can, the anger fueled inside me causes so much adrenaline that I start taking down Walkers one by one. Michonne pushes Sasha to the ground, "I told you to stop" she says after she kills a Walker. Sasha stares at Michonne, Michonne stares right back.
We walk a while more before coming across some cars, I walk up to one and check the windows. I get inside and check the glove box to find it empty. I sit back against the seat and sigh, I play with the keys that are hanging from the ignition. I pull them out and go to open the trunk. I see a tied up Walker in the back and I force myself to push those memories aside. I stare at the Walker in front of me for a few minutes before slamming the truck and walking away. I take a deep breath and turn back around, I try to unlock the trunk but it won't unlock. I start to pull at the trunk and it still doesn't open. I pull out my gun and aim it at the trunk, suddenly there is an hand on my arm, "Jade?" Glenn asks, "There's o- there's one in there. I shut it and it's still in there" I say. He tries to open the trunk and he finally gets it open. He looks inside and I stare at it. He takes his knife out and kill sit before turning back to me. "Let's go" he says.
