Chapter 17~Safe Haven?

     "Rick, do you honestly trust him?" I ask looking directly into his eyes, "I honestly don't know. Do you?" he asks, "It's worth a shot but at the same time, it could be a trap and none of us are in any position to fight back if necessary. We already had that issue with Terminus and I'm not doing it again Rick. I can't" I say. He nods and we stand there silently for a moment, "I'll tell you what. I'll go with him and scope out the area and then I'll come back and tell you guys if it's safe" I suggest, "You're not going alone" he says, "Rick you can't go because they need you here and nobody else is in any position to go" I say. "I'll go with you. The group can handle themselves for a day" he says. I nod, "You tell them the game plan, I'm going to hunt" I say and walk away from him. 

        I manage to get 3 squirrels and a rabbit before I head back to camp. I lay my stuff down and go over to my bag before ripping another shred of clothes, I slowly undo the bandage on my arm and see my arm is getting infected. "Carol, do you have any peroxide or alcohol?" I ask her, "I have some alcohol pads" she offers, "That'll have to work" I say and take them before thanking her. I take two and open them before squeezing the alcohol out of them onto my arm. I wince in pain and open the last two before placing them on my wound and tying the strip of cloth over top of it. 

      "You ready?" Rick asks, "As ready as I'll ever be" I say and scoop up my bow and double check my knives. Aura comes running into my arms, "Please come back" she sobs, "I'll be back pumpkin, I'm not going anywhere. Stay here and take care of everyone for me" I say and hug her tightly before kissing her forehead. I stand back up and Rick and I head out the door with the guy in front of us, "My name is Aaron by the way" he says. "I'm Jade and this is Rick" I say introducing us. "I heard someone mention something about Terminus, I saw the signs for those and I was gonna head there until I found Alexandria. They took me in without hesitation. They'll take you in too" he says, "Well I'm not getting into details but it's good you didn't go there. They're cannibals and it wasn't what it said it was" I say. He frowns, "Well that's depressing" he says. We make small talk as we walk.
