Jade's POV
I wake up feeling a little better than I did the first time. That pain was just too unbeatable, it was more than excruciating. Glenn walks in, "Hey. How are you feeling?" he asks, "Better than I look, most likely" I say and he chuckles. "Where's Daryl?" I ask, "He stormed off into the woods" he says, "Would it be too much to ask for you to have someone go get him?" I ask, "No. I'll go myself" he says and smiles before leaving, "Thank-you" I say as he walks out the door.
Maggie comes in a few minutes later, "Can I get you anything?" she asks sympathetically, "Some water" I say, she nods and walks out. She returns with the water, "Thank-you. I need to speak with Bella, is she busy?" I ask, she shakes her head. "No, she's watching Judith but I can take her for a bit while you guys talk" she says. "Thank-you. I appreciate it and everything else you do" I say to her. She smiles, "Thanks" she says and exits the room.
Bella comes into the room a few moments later, "Hey" I say, "Hey" she says softly. "I just wanted to make sure you were alright?" I ask, "I'm not as bad as you" she says and I chuckle slightly, "I didn't want anyone to get hurt" she says on the verge of tears. "And nobody died, so it's ok. I might be in pain but it's not your fault so don't blame yourself. Bella, you are so strong. And the fact that you risked your life for Maggie and me only proves my point. You are such a valuable piece of this group, not just because you're becoming level 1 badass like everyone else, but because you still have a heart. After all you've done I'm not so sure I could've made all that happen and lived with myself to show it" I say, a silent tear slips down her face, "I'm nowhere near as strong as you Jade, I've heard some of the things you've been through and I can't say I'd be alive right now if it'd have been me in your shoes" she says. "Sometimes you just have to look past all the hurt to see the good in the bad" I say, she smiles, "So like a silver lining?" She asks, "Yes, exactly like a silver lining" I say and smile.
She stands there staring at the floor, "Bella?" I say her name softly, she looks up at me, "Thank-you" I say as sincerely as I can manage, "You're more than welcome. I guess it starts to make up for all the times you save the groups asses out there" she says, "No. You don't need to take it upon yourself to try to save the group or to give back to me. I don't need that, and especially not from you. You've done enough for me" I say a little harshly. "Okay. I just-you-" she struggles to find the words she needs. She takes a deep breath, "You remind me of my mom in so many ways, and I don't want to lose you" she says. "I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, ok?" I say, she nods. "I mean it, did anyone tell you of the time they thought I was dead because of the governor?" I ask, she shakes her head, "Not that I can recall" she says.
"Well, Daryl's older brother Merle was quite the asshole. He went missing after I handcuffed him to a pipe on the roof of a building. We were on a supply run and he was shooting off rounds like an ass. A guy named T-dog told him to stop and they got into it and I jumped on Merle to break it up. He slammed me against a wall and broke my elbow. Hurt like a bitch, but I still managed to handcuff the prick to the building. We had to leave and T-dog dropped the key down the drain pipe, we didn't know because T-dog was the last to leave. We all got to the truck and that's when he told us. Daryl wasn't a happy camper and we all went back for Merle, he cut off his hand and well I guess long story short he ended up with the governor. But anyways, he told the governor I was immune to the bite and he put me in a caged arena with 6 Walkers to maul my flesh away" I pause, tears filling my eyes as I relive the memory.
"I killed 4 of the Walkers and kicked the cage door open, everyone had left because I was down and they thought I was dead. The Walkers got me pretty good, I was already suffering from some injuries so I was weak, not to mention that prick starved me for 3 days so I was dehydrated and deprived of food and I was lacking energy, anyways I kicked the door open and grabbed the closest person next to me, which was some pretty redhead. I threw her in the cage and took off to kill the governor. Little did I know some of the members of the group had come back to get me. I was already in the governor apartment, the sick bastard kept his daughter as a Walker, he chained her up in a closet and I thought she was just a little girl. He had fucking fish aquariums filled with Walker heads in them, I took the little girl out of the closet and found out she was a Walker and I went to kill her but of course dick brain had to come in the room and we went at it. But Daryl and whoever came back with him still thought I was dead. The Governor was an ass and he deserved to die, though I didn't get to kill him till the big blowout at the Prison. But anyways, I was fleeing the town when one of the Governor's puppets, Martinez threw a fucking knife into my lower back, I collapsed with an agonizing scream and that's when Daryl and the rest of them came to my rescue" I say, she's crying by the end of my little story.
"I could sit here for 3 days and tell you stories of the group but I'm feeling a little tired so if you don't mind I'd like to rest?" I say ending the conversation, "I don't mind. I'll go back to Judith now" she says and scurries out of the room. I slowly roll to my side and slip off into darkness.
