Air

The first breath
When I escape the womb
My first taste of life
Is what leads me to death
This air is what keeps me alive and growing
Yet it's what slowly kills my lungs
If I hold my breath
And try to resist
I will die as well
Either way I will face the shadow of death
The same substance
That same fate
So when I'm old and crippled
Lying on my deathbed
I'll gasp for my final breath
And I'll die
Because of air
The lifesaver
And destroyer
