Writing Addict

Just one smoke
Or a single pill
A jug of liquor
Can lead to a will

Once you start
You can't stop
It's like a clock
That won't ever turn off

You travel to a place
That's far far away
You forget about reality
And your thoughts start to stray

You love the feeling
Of having your own home
No consequences
And no one to say no

But I'm saying no now
I'll say is loud and clear
There are other ways
To disappear

When you write a story
Or read a book
You travel into their world
To get a better look

But you don't forget about earth
It stays in tact
And it's better than drugs
That only attack

I'm a writing addict
And I'm okay if that's what I'll be
Because I can escape away
Without drugs holding me

I wrote this poem for a school red ribbon week contest my reading teacher wanted everyone to compete in. I didn't think it was very good, but I won first place and achieved free corndogs at Sonic so yay! I sort of based it off my name, WritingAdict, but I actually spelled addict right. I spell my name adict because WritingAddict was already taken, oh well.
