Imagine Lex reading you to sleep.

You had stayed up late to finish an article you were working on for the Daily Planet. Originally, you had thought to just get in a few hours work before you went to bed. Before you knew it, you were finishing the article at 3am. You were exhausted.

You closed your laptop and stood from the couch. Tiredly, you wandered into the bedroom you shared with your fiancé, Lex Luthor. You expected him to be asleep, considering how late it was, and was surprised to see him sitting up in bed with a book in his hands.

"What... What are you still doing up?" You asked sleepily.

Lex glanced up from his book and smiled a little, no doubt from how sleepy you looked.

"I could ask you the same thing," he replied with a light laugh.

You walked over to your side of the bed and crawled under the covers. You weren't going to bother changing into your pajamas.

"I was finishing up an article for the Daily Planet," you explained.

"Is it due tomorrow?" Lex asked.

"No..."

"Then why did you stay up so late to finish it?"

"I was on a roll, I guess..." You answered with a halfhearted shrug.

You snuggled into Lex's side as you closed your eyes, wrapping your arms around his waist. You felt him tense up at your touch, but soon relax, as he usually did. You figured it was because of what his father did to him that made him wary of touch.

"Lex...?"

"Yes, Y/N?"

"Will you read to me?"

You heard him chuckle, then felt his fingers lightly tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear.

"Of course, my dear."

You smiled as Lex began to read aloud from his book in a soft, soothing voice. It wasn't long until you were fast asleep.

Lex, upon noticing you were sleeping soundly, quietly closed his book and set it on the nightstand. He lightly ran his fingers through your hair, smiling at how peaceful you looked. His voice was merely a whisper when he spoke.

"I love you, Y/N."
