LIA-
I scream as the thing attacks us. Travis and Connor split up, and pull something out of their belt, which suspiciously looks like a knife. They charge the creature and I jump out of the way just before I become a sandwich.I run near an unconscious Mrs. Stoll and attempt to pull her out of the way of the fight.
Once I make sure she is safe in a room, I grab a kitchen knife and run to help the boys, who took the fight to the lawn.
They were slicing and dicing at the monster and it suddenly occurred to me that it was a minatour (spelling!), Like the one in the book my mom used to read to me. Although, the picture in the book looked much cheerful than this thing.
Connor screams, snapping me out of my daze. "Lia, stab it!" He was screaming.
"Stab it? Like kill it? Whats wrong with you? It's a living creature!" I scream back, devastated at the fact that they want to kill a living creature, no matter how ugly it is.
"Well, it's not going to go away if we shoo it!" Travis replied, dodging it's horn. "If we don't kill it, it will kill us!"
The minatour tramples Mrs. Stoll's flower bed, and I wonder what is scarier, the monster or Mrs. Stoll when she finds out. She can get very protective about her flowers.
"Lia!" Travis knocks me off my daze again. "Move!" He says as the minatour runs towards me and almost stabs me with its horn.I jump out of the way and the thing's horn gets stuck in the wall.
"Lia now! While it's stuck." Connor screams.
"Argh!" I scream and run towards the thing. I stab it with the knife and it roars, dissolving into a cloud of golden dust.
I pant and plop down on the ground, followed by Travis and Connor. "I.... Killed it!" I exclaim in disbelief.
"Please, just tell me it's over, I killed a living creature...." I look down at my hands, which are covered in monster dust.
"Would you rather have it kill us!?" Connor screams at me as I look down.
"It's alright Lia, it's a monster. Something that kills without reason. It's our job to kill it." Travis says."Which reminds me, we have to go. Now."
"What about Mrs. Stoll?" I ask. "I'll leave a note behind, you pack your bags Lia, we have to go." Travis says.
"But...." I'm cut off by Connor, who grabs me by the shoulders and slowly takes me to my room. I silently pack my things while Connor waits at the door, watching Travis write the note.
"Connor?" I ask. He looks back at me and raises his eyebrows. "Is that why you left? To protect Mrs. Stoll from that?"
He turns to look at me, and his gaze softens. "Travis said we're demigods, right?" He asks. "That's what happens when you're us. Loved ones get hurt. Monsters chase us and innocent people get in the way."
"Yes, that's why we left. Even if mom hates us for doing so, at least she's safe." He sits on the bed and looks at me. "That's why we need you to come. Because we think you're one of us. It's for mom."
I continue packing and when I finally put my book inside, I say, "She never hated you, you know? She loved you. Still does, I can see it. She just doesn't know how to show it. And by the looks of it," I smirk at him, "Neither do you." And I walk out of the room, buzzing wit nervous energy because of our talk.
Connor and I wait for Travis to get done, and then Travis comes out and whistles. Thinking he wants to hail a cab, I hold my hand out, but he stops me. "Just watch." He smiles at me and looks at the sky.
I follow his gaze, and after a few minutes, I gasp. Two white horses come, in our direction, and they are flying.
I don't know how, but their names automatically come int my mouth. "Pegasi" I say. "They're beautiful."
Travis looks back and smiles, climbing onto one, while Connor climbs the other.
"Coming?" He says, holding out a hand. "I still don't know where." I reply, taking his hand.
"You'll see."
I'm back guys!!! Thank you all for waiting and sticking with me. I decided that I wont delete the book coz I really love writing it. The updates may be slower, but I'll manage. Out 4 now!
