The children and the cat had no idea what to do, so they just made a small camp in the nearby woods. They did not make a fire, as they thought it might alert the Beldam to where they were. So they slept on the ground, with the cat nestled in between them.
They awoke the next morning sleepily. Then Coraline nearly jumped in surprise.
Except, she couldn't jump. She was tied to a tree, with Other Wybie and Wybie.
The Beldam stood over her, an evil grin on her face. She snatched the Wybie doll from the cat, (who still had it) and poked the shoulder hard. Wybie and Other Wybie both groaned in annoyance. It affected them both. The Beldam just laughed and her grin became wider.
Coraline knew that the Beldam wasn't going to let them go easily. Then she remembered the short sword in the scabbard on her belt. She slowly eased the weapon out of the scabbard, as the Beldam was distracted with the voodoo doll and Wybie and Other Wybie.
It came out easily, without making a sound. She carefully turned it around and started to slowly cut the ropes so they could come down. It cut through and the ropes eased away as they fell to the floor. Coraline looked into the Other Mother's new button eyes. They were just as dark as the old ones, just creepier.
She brought the dagger from behind her back and lunged forward to the Beldam.
The Beldam was surprised, so she didn't see the dagger hit one of her mechanical legs, chopping it off, but it didn't affect her as she had more.
Other Wybie pounced on her back, while the normal Wybie grabbed the doll and put it out of the way. The cat jumped on her face, tearing at the button eyes like he did last time. The buttons came off and the Beldam screamed. She was momentarily distracted so Coraline stabbed with the he dagger.
The Beldam reared, then fell onto her back. The grin was still plastered on her face, but she didn't move and she didn't make a sound. The kids all thought she was dead and the cat went to check. He confirmed it, and the kids all cheered. But Coraline felt slightly guilty about how she treated the Beldam with the dagger.
The kids danced around the fire with delight and Other told the two children that he knew a way out of the world. So, he led them away from the camp, towards Wybie and Other Wybie's house.
