Inspired By: My day...
Sari woke up, tears silently streaming down her cheeks.
She hadn't told anyone.
Hell, no one would probably care.
She stood up and walked down to the kitchen to grab a glass of water.
"Look who else is up at 2:56 in the morning..." Her best friend, Asylum's, voice came from behind her, causing her to jump and turn towards his voice.
"Asylum? What the hell are you doing up?" She whisper-yelled to the small boy who shrugged.
"Couldn't tell you... But I would like to know the same of you..." He said as she shrugged.
"I don't know--"
"Sari... Have you been -- Crying?" He asked, walking up to her and tracing the tear tracks stained on her cheek. She swatted his hand away.
"N-no!" She screamed defensively, turning around so he couldn't see her face.
"Sari?" He whispered as she turned back to face him.
New hot tears falling.
He stood up, quickly walking towards her as he began wiping her tears away.
"Sari... What's wrong?" He whispered as she was looking out the window of the sorority the two were staying at on campus.
"I don't understand the kids around here... They tell me things... And I don't understand how people do them..." She trembled as he glared at her face in confusion.
"What did they tell you?" He asked.
He has been trying to get Sari to fit in for so long. She's a Hispanic exchange student from Spain.
"They tell me I'm getting to big and I need to stop eating. They tell me to drink bleach. They tell me I'm not as bright as they are and I'm a wasted space. They tell me my parents never loved me... And... That I should stop talking to you..." She said, slowly peeling herself away from Asylum, who's eyes were wide opened and full of shock.
"A-and you believed these things?" He asked as she slowly began stepping away from him.
"Yeah... You guys have a really strange culture if you drink bleach... It doesn't taste very good..." She said as he shook his head.
"When was the last time you ate?" He barked as she watched his eyes blossom with anger.
"A few weeks ago..." She said as he ran to the fridge and grabbed her a bowl of leftover pasta.
She took it and looked at it sickly.
"I don't want it..." She said, handing it back to him, but her pushed it back towards her.
"Please, Sari... Please eat..." He whispered, tears brimming at the seams of his eyes.
She sighed before crashing at the barstool, grabbing a fork and slowly eating a little of the meal.
He had no idea why anyone would call her overweight. She was probably on if the skinniest people on campus. Even when she had just arrived.
"Now... How long have you been drinking bleach?" He asked, sitting down in the barstool next to her.
She shrugged.
"A week at the least..." She answered.
"Sari... That could kill you... You know that... Right?" He asked as she looked down, fiddling with the fork in between her fingers.
"I'm so beat... I'm gonna go to bed... Goodni--"
"Sari!" He snapped as she sighed.
"They didn't tell me any of that... I told myself that..." She whispered to the point that he almost couldn't hear her.
But he did.
"Sari! Why do you feel like that?!" He yelled, pulling her into a long hug as she cried into his shoulder.
"I don't know! It just seems to be the truth! They judge you, Asylum! That's all they're good at! And sometimes it feels like you do too!" She yelled as he slowly rubbed circles on her back.
"Sari... I mean this... You're beautiful. Sweet. Kind. Funny. Lovable. Loyal. Smart. Cute. Adorable. Gorgeous. Pretty. Skinny. And most of all... You are you. Sari, I couldn't ask you to be anything more. I like you for you. Not because you're popular. Not because you're in every club. Not because you know how to make anyone smile. Sari... You're one of the most amazing people I've ever met. And you don't need to change that..." He said, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead as tears continued to stray down her face.
"Thank you, Asylum..." She whispered, crying as he rocked her back and forth.
"You're so welcome, Sari... Please don't be scared to talk to me..." He whispered in her ear as she nodded.
"Never again..." She whispered as he smiled, running his hands though her hair.
