The Babysitting Job

Chapter 6

Skylynn and I were playing with Zan. We were throwing him a tennis ball when Hayes came out with a coke in his hand. "looks like Zan really likes you" He said leaning against the door frame. His dog had been following me around. I smiled and pet the dog, "i just have that affect on people and animals " I said looking down at Zan. "Lets go on the swing" Sky said running towards the swing. This girl was a ball of energy, she never stopped moving around. She climbed on the swing and I began to push her. "Higher" she said giggling , "Sky if I push you any higher I'm afraid you might fall" I said laughing.
"I have an idea," Hayes said walking over to us. "You sit on the swing and have Sky sit on your lap and hold her tightly while I push you guys"
"yeah!" Skylynn said, "so we can go super high!" I smiled, "that sounds like a bad idea. If I fall, I will take Sky down with me"
"you wont fall." he said getting closer to me, So close I could feel his warm breath, "trust me" he said looking into my boring brown eyes. I gently stopped the swing and Skylynn got off. "cmon Danielle." she said with puppy eyes. "fine" I said and got on to the swing. "Yay" Skylynn said and sat on my lap. I wrapped my arms tightly around her waist. "ready?" Hayes asked. "ready" I assured him. He began to push me slowly. I felt his strong hand on my back as he pushed us on the swing. Then we began going higher and higher. "Look we are going so high up!" Sky exclaimed. I held on to her tightly.
"see. I told you everything would be okay" Hayes said. Then his phone rang. "yo" he said as he answered it.Who answers their phone like that? "nothing much just at moms house" he said. "sure" he said. Then he stopped swinging us. We came to a complete stop. "Sky Nash wants to talk to you" he said handing her the phone. "really? its Nash!" She said and grabbed the phone. "Nash!" She said into the phone. They had a short conversation but then Sky said, "Nash can we do that thing where I can see you?" Then all of a sudden she was face timing her brother. "yay!" She said once she saw herself on the phone looking at her brother. "Hey Sky whos that" he said. Skylynn was still sitting on my lap on the swing. "This is Danielle, my new babysitter and best friend" she said pointing the camera towards me. "Nice to meet you Danielle" Nash said. "Uh, nice to meet you too."I awkwardly smiled. "Hayes was pushing us on the swing you help build" She said into the camera. "I'm glad your having fun with it. Look Sky I have to go now" He said. I noticed the disappointed look on her face. "ok" she said. "I love you very much Sky" he said, "me too" She responded. "Take good care of my little sister" Nash said to me. I smiled, "don't worry I will"
"let me talk to Hayes for a sec" he said to Sky. She handed Hayes his phone. They started a conversation of their own
. "I miss him" Skylynn said looking at the ground. "don't be sad Sky" I said. "Hey do you want to eat some ice cream?" I said hoping it would cheer her up. Her face lighten up a bit "ok" she said.
We went into the kitchen. "ok I promised your mom that I wouldn't give you too much candy. I don't want to spoil your dinner" I said opening the fridge. "There is only vanilla and strawberry. Which one do you want?" She thought for a second, "Both!" she finally said. I saw that there was whipped cream,cherrys,nuts and other cool stuff like gummy worms and sprinkles in the kitchen. "Sky, I think I have an idea"
**Hayes POV**
 (while Danielle and Sky are inside)
"hows it going Nash?" I asked. "everything is good. But not as good as you" Nash said. "whats that supposed to mean?"I asked laughing. "You know what I mean, Danielle, Sky's babysitter. She is kinda cute"
"Shes not really my type Nash. Plus I don't think she likes me very much" I said looking around to make sure she didn't hear me. "Wow that's a first" Nash said. Then we changed the topic. We talked about for a 3 mintues and then he had to go. I hung up and went inside. I walked into the kitchen and saw Danielle spraying whipped cream in Skys mouth. They were laughing and making a mess in the kitchen, even Zan was having fun with them eating what they dropped on the floor.
I looked around the kitchen and saw that there was chocolate fudge, ice cream , bananas, sprinkles and a bunch of other stuff scattered around  the counter. "Whats going on in here?"
"Danielle is making a Everything But The Kitchen Sink sundae!" Sky said with a bit of whipped cream on her face. "What is that?" I asked Danielle. "its what it sounds like. A sundae with everything sugary and sweet you can find in the kitchen. Its a fun way to make and eat a sundae" she shrugged. "can we use strawberries?" asked Skylynn. "Yeah of course, let me cut them up first." She headed to the already opened frigde and grabbed the box of strawberries. "Do you want to help me wash them first Sky"
"yeah" she said exicted and grabbed a handful and walked over to the sink. "mind if I help?" I asked.
"sure" she said passing me a glass bowl, "here, so you make your own sundae and put whatever you want in it" she said smiling. "look around the kitchen for stuff you might like on your sundae."
"done" Sky said over by the sink, "ok let me cut them up" Danielle said walking over to Sky. "Lets put some music!" Sky said jumping up and down. "I gottchu" I said taking out my phone. "No" Sky said, "I want to put my music" She said putting her hands on her hips. She can be so sassy sometimes. "fine" I said and played Skylynn's playlist on my phone. 'No' by Megan Trainor stated playing.

"this is my favortite song" Sky yelled over the loud music playing. Danielle laughed at little Skylynn danicing around the kitchen while she was cutting the strawberries into small slices. "Dance with me Danny" She said pulling on her arm. "hold on I need to do this first Sky" she said laughing. She finished and put the strawberries in a small cup. "cmon" sky said pulling her arm and she began to dance with her and sang to the lyrics.
 "All my ladies listen up. If that boy aint giving up, lick your lips and swing your hips. Girl all you gotta say is....
My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no, you need to let it go, you need to let it go, need to let it go!"
I just stayed back and smiled at their weird dancing. "You too Hayes!' Sky said pulling on my arm "oh no" I said. "cmon" She said traging me in. I sighed at danced with my little sister. I was dancing like an iditot but I didn't care, we were having fun. "Cmon lets finish thoses sundaes" Danielle said over the music. She had created a small buffet on the kitchen table. Everything from sprinkles to peanut butter was on the table. She gave Sky a bowl, "lets get started" She said. The song ended and changed to 'Cake By The Ocean' by DNCE.

Sky and Danielle sang along to the lyrics to eachother as they put stuff into their glass bowls. Sky grabbed the chocolate fudge bottle and sang into it like a microphone, "Waste time with a masterpiece don't waste time with a masterpiece"
Then Danielle grabbed the whipped cream bottle and used it has her microphone, "You should me rolling with me, you should be rolling with me. Your a real life fantasy, your real life fantasy"
"But your moving so carefully lets start living dangerously" Sky sang
"Talk to me baby! I'm going blind from this sweet sweet craving. Lets lose our minds and go crazy crazy. Ay ya ya ya ya, I keep on hopin we'll eat cake by the ocean!" They sang together. Sky pointed her bottle of chocolate fudge microphone to me gesturing me to sing. "No" I said laughing. "cmon Hayes!" She whinned and then she accidently squirted choclate on my face. "opps" Sky said trying to hold back her giggling but looked at Danielle and they started laughing so hard. "you think its funny" I said trying to hold back my laugh. I grabbed a handful of sprinkles and poured them on Skys head. "Danielle give me the whipped cream" Sky tried to get the bottle of whipped cream out of Danielles hand but Danielle said, "Sky that's not very nice to your brother " still laughing and held the bottle to the side so she wouldn't grab it but then sprayed me with whipped cream. She turned around and Sky laughed her head off.
"I'm sorry" Danielle said holding back her laugh and smile my pressing her lips together. "oh your both paying now" I said and the strawberry syrup from the table and squirted it on Danielles head. She looked shock but then grabbed the a small handful of nuts and threw it on my face making them stick on my face since I had whipped cream and chocolate fudge.
"oh its so on" I said and she ran to the other side of the table. Soon we were all running around the kitchen throwing stuff at eachother laughing. We eventually did make our sundaes.
We were sitting on the table eating our sugary  and sweet sundaes. "Peanut butter?" I said looking at Danielles sundae. "Don't judge it until you try it" She said handing my a spoonful of vanilla ice cream, a slice of banana with peanut butter and chocolate fudge with some sprinkles. I tried it, "wow that is really good" I said. "told ya" She said, "its sweet with a bit of saltiness " I looked at Skys sundae, "Sky it looks like a unicorn threw up in your bowl" causing her to giggle. "aww sky you have food all over your face" Danielle said grabbing a napkin and cleaning Skys mouth. "Looks like someone will need to take a shower after eating" she said to Sky. "do I have to" Sky whinned. "When your done eating do up and shower ok. I don't want your mommy seeing you like this" She said smiling, "and while you shower, I will give the kitchen a shower too" she said looking around the messy sticky kitchen. we made a really big mess. " I'll help you clean Danielle" I said looking at her from across the table. "its kinda my fault anyways" She smiled, probably remembering how it all started, "ok" she said before taking a spoonful of her sundae in her mouth. "I'm done" Sky said holding up her bowl. "wow I cant believe you actually ate the whole thing" I said, "me too" Danielle added, "your bowl was overflowing" she said smiling. Skylynn smiled "well it was delicious. Thank you Danielle" she said giving her a hug.
"ok go on and shower" she said smiling at Sky. "and then can you braid my hair again!" Danielle nodded. And with that Sky ran up stairs, leaving just me and Danielle at the table.
