The Babysitting Job

Chapter 12

I got up that morning and realized it was 7:48am. Shit, I had to be at the Floyds house at 8am! I quickly got up and put on the first shirt and shorts I saw. I quickly looked in the mirror and saw it wasn't so bad. Like I said, I'm not a fashion girl. Not that I like looking like shit I do like to look nice but 90% of my clothes is just casual T-shirts, jeans and sweaters, I have like maybe 2 dresses and 1 skirt somewhere in my closet. I just like to comfortable ya know?
While I was brushing my teeth I made Uncle Rob a note saying I was gone to babysit for Sky and that I would call him later. I got a little bit of toothpaste on the note. Whatever. I spit out and rinsed, ran down stairs and placed the note on the dinner table wile grabbing a banana from the fruit bowl. Geez, this was like waking up for school all over again.
I made it to the Floyd's house with 2 minutes to spare. The only lived down the block. Elizabeth greeted me and said she was in a hurry and apologized for the really short notice. I told her it was all good.
"Skylynn is still sleeping upstairs. Could you make her some breakfast?" she said looking around the house like she lost something. "yeah no problem" I said, "umm is everything all right"
"I cant find my keys" she said looking through the couch. I helped her look for her keys. "Found them!" I said, "they are under the coffee table" I pointed.
"oh thank lord" She said smiling. "I don't know what I would do with out you Danielle" I smiled and she walked towards the door but quickly turned around, "I don't know when I will be back but there is plenty of food in the kitchen and I left a $50 on the kitchen counter if you and Sky want to go out or something. Thank you so much!" She said and got into her car. Wow, she is one busy woman. She felt and I closed the door. The house was silent. I sat on the couch unsure what to do. Skylynn probably wouldn't be up for a while, I though. I took my phone out and started to peel my banana. I was just scrolling through Instagram and snapchatted with Sierra and Kevin but neither of them were awake yet, it was 4am in California right now. I didn't know what to do, I couldn't talk to my friends, I couldn't turn on the TV because I didn't want to wake up Sky, and I didn't't bring my earphones to listen to music, all I had was Instagram. Then the most random thing came to mind, search up Hayes. what no are you crazy? I thought to myself. Well he did say he was famous and if you accidentally like one of his picture while scrolling he wouldn't notice  right? I mean he must have thousands of followers. I'm bored I'll do it. Oh god I'm having a conversation with myself, I'm so hungry and tired my brain is going crazy. I have nothing better to do so I went on Instagram and looked up Hayes' account.
Wow. He had 5.4 MILLION followers! Impressive. I scrolled through his photos. They were of him on his farm for the TV show, telling his fans to vote for him for the Teen Choice Awards, him and his friends Tez with red eyes.....allergies?....HA not a chance!, he was most likely high I mean it what kids like him do. They ditch school to go get high and stuff but since he didn't go to school he probably did it in his own backyard. There were a lot him and Zan and him dirt biking, with his friends and aww there were some of Skylynn. I scrolled further there were some, of him shirtless. I rolled my eyes, typical fuck boy. There was one of him shirtless with only a colorful sweater and he had the sweater opened showing of his 'abs' and holding a stack of cash. I couldn't take it anymore and I exited his account. Surprise surprise, he was just like any other rich popular boy at my school. Showing off his body, money and thinking he was the shit. The reason I hate people like him is because they think the can do whatever they want when ever they want, you know what I mean? They think they are superior to you just because they have a $50 shirt and a nice face. They don't know what its like to work and actually earn stuff, they are so ungrateful for what they have and act like assholes and jerks just because mommy and daddy give them everything they want.
I got up to throw my banana away and I hear a door upstairs open.
"Mommy" I heard sleepy Sky say walking downstairs.
"Good morning Skylynn" I whispered in a soft voice.
"Danielle?" Sky yawned, "what are you doing here, where is my mom?" Where did her mother go? I don't even know.
"She had to go out" I said, "so I'm here to babysit you" I said smiling. She rubbed her eyes and then+ hugged me, "ya so we get to play some more" she said.
"OK do you want to have breakfast or sleep in a little longer its only" I looked at my phone " Its almost 9am"
"no I'm wake" Skylynn said looking up and smiling.
"are you sure?" I asked.
"nope I'm totally wake now!" she said, "and I want to eat!"
"Skylynn shh, your brother is sleeping" I said laughing.
"no he isn't. He at Luke's house. He had a sleepover with him and Tez" she said. Oh no what was ti tat I just felt? A slight feeling of disappointment? Was a very small part of me hoping to see him? No, get yourself together Danielle. Why would you be disappointed that Hayes isn't here?
"Ok I guess its just you and me today" I said smiling at Sky, "We can have a girls day!" Skylynn cheered.
"ok lets got eat. What do you want for breakfast?" I asked her walking into the kitchen.
"Chocolate chip cookies!" She said sitting down on the table.
"what? No Sky real food" I said laughing.
"but chocolate chip cookies aren't fake, they are real and you can eat them. So they are real food" she said.
"That's not what I meant Sky. I mean real breakfast food, like eggs, cereal, oatmeal, waffles. Stuff like that" I said
"but I want chocolate chips cookies" she said with a sad face.
"how about after you have breakfast, a real healthy breakfast, you can have a chocolate chip cookie" I said
"OK but can I have 2?" she said holding up 2 fingers. I smiled, "ye-"
"no 3" she said holding up 3 fingers. I laughed, "you can have as many cookies as you want Sky" I said, "after you eat breakfast"
"OK" she nodded and smiled, "i want some oatmeal with fruit in it" she said.
I made her her oatmeal with fruit and made myself one too because I was starving. When we were both done Sky said, "I'm really full. I don't think I could eat that cookie" while rubbing her tummy.
"its OK, you can have it later" I said. "now go change while I do the dishes" She ran up and I did the dishes. 
"Okay Sky we have the house all to ourselves what do you want to do?" I asked walking into the living room. "Dance Party!" She said jumping up and down. I gave Skylynn my phone so she could DJ the party (wow this girl knows how to use an IPhone better than I do) Soon Taylor Swift song Shake It Off started blasting and we danced around the whole house singing.
Skylynn and I had a fun morning. We drew together, played with her horses and build with Lego's. Oh how I miss being a little girl. It wasn't until 11:50 When Sky said "can I have my cookie now"  I nodded and she ran to the kitchen, "Danielle! I cant reach the cookie jar!" She yelled from the kitchen. I got up and went over to get the cookie jar. "uhh" I said as I opened the jar.
"what is it?" She asked.
"I'm sorry Sky but there are no more cookies" I said showing her the inside of the jar. Her face looked so sad and disappointment. I feel you girl, I thought. I remember that feeling when you actually did what you were supposed to do but didn't get what you wanted. "Tell you what" I said remembering her mother left me money, "how about we go to the store and restock the cookies?" Her face brightened up. "yeah lets go!" she said running towards the door. "Sky! Your shoes!" She looked down at her feet which were in socks. She laughed "oh yeah"
We walked to the store. I made sure Skylynn held on to my hand at all times. I know she is already 7 but I didn't't want anything to happen to her. We got to the store and the cashier said they were all out of Chip Ahoy cookies.
"its OK Sky we can get Oreos" I said. She nodded. We went to the snacks aisle and I grabbed the Oreos as we passed my the refrigerator food Sky say cookie dough. "Danielle! What if we MAKE the cookies!" She pointed to the raw chocolate chip cookie dough. "Sky its like 80 degrees outside, you want to bake?"
"Oh please! We have air conditioning in the house so it wont matter. Plus all was have to do it put them in the oven" she gave me some puppy eyes. "OK" I said. She jumped and got out the cookie dough from the freezer. "can still take the oreos?" she asked.
We had just taken the cookies out of the oven when the front door opened. "Wass up!!" I heard a boy say. I recognized the voice, it was the same voice that said, 'her elbows all fuck up'. It was Tez. And behind him was Hayes and another guy. The same guy with long hair I saw them with last night. I looked at what Hayes was wearing, flowered shorts, a black T-shirt, Vans with high socks and a bucket hat. "nice outfit" I said sarcastically was he walked into the kitchen. Hayes came up and kissed Skylynns cheek, "not so bad yourself" he said with a wink. OK what was that? Zan came in running behind him towards me.
"Tez!" she said hugging Tez, "aye whats up little Sky" He said. "woah where's my hug?" the other guy said ruffling her hair. Skylynn hugged him and giggled, "Luke you messed up my hair" he started tickling her, "stop!....Luke!" she said between laughs. "I cant breathe!...... Hayes!.....Danielle!"
"OK man" Hayes said to Luke. He put her gentle on her feet.
"Well who's this?" Luke said coming closer to me. "I'm Danielle, Skylynn's babysitter" I said.
"Shes the one Hayes ran over the other day" Tez said pointing at me.
"oh right! The one with the small but r-" then Tez punched Luke's arm and Hayes said, "Wow you girls made cookies! I'm starving!" really loud walking towards me
"Mom told me she wont be back until 3 maybe 4" he said taking a cookie from the tray and getting slightly burned.
"sweet you girls made cookies!" Tez said getting a cookie and also getting slightly burn,"Jesus that is HOT!" he said dropping the cookie in the ground. Zan ran up to it, "no he cant eat chocolate!" Hayes said picking it up. Was I stuck babysitting 3 teenage boys? Wait, Hayes was 16 and he told me Tez was 19, Luke looked about 19 too. Did this kid have any friends his own age?
"can I have a cookie?" sky said.
"wait until they cool off a little. You don't want to get burned" I said. I put the cookies on a small plate to let them cool off. As soon as they were cooled down Sky and the boy started devouring the cookies. "So Tez what time does your flight leave tomorrow?" Hayes said with a mouth full of cookies. "At 2am" He responded. Hayes looked at me and said, "Tez is going to New York" I just nodded. I don't know why but I felt a little awkward and unconformable in this situation. Then the house phone ran and Hayes picked it up. It was his mom. "OK, Sky mom wants to talk to you" he said passing the phone to her. Sky talked with her mom and then passed me the phone, "mommy wants to talk to you".
"hello" I said. "oh Danielle thank you so much for babysitting Skylynn" she said.
"Oh no problem. We are having fun" I said.
"yeah Skylynn told me you girls are having fun. Well see you soon, I will be home around 3" We said our goodbyes and hung up. As I put the home back where it belongs I noticed that they had finished all the cookies. "Man in still hungry" Tez said, "yo Danielle whats for lunch" he said.
"Excuse me? I'm Skylynn's babysitter, not yours nor your cook. If you are really that hungry, go into he kitchen and cook something yourself" I said firmly.  All the boys looked at each other and Sky just smiled trying to hold back her laugh. "How about we go to In-n-Out instead" Hayes said)A/N I don't know if there is an In-N-Out in NC or if its just a California thing but lets just pretend there is) "and them we go dirk biking?" The boys said yeah and got up. Thank god they are leaving. "Wait I want to go!" Sky said jumping on Hayes like a monkey. "I want to go with you guys and go ride your dirk bike and go to In-n_out too!" Sky said. Then both Sky and Hayes turned and looked at me. "its OK if you guys want to come with us" he said.
"please Danielle can we got with Hayes?" Sky said. I didn't really feel like hanging out with 3 teenage loud teenage boys but Sky was giving me a sad look and I knew she wanted to spend time with her brother plus we have been inside almost all day. I sighed, "OK lets go" I said smiling. Everyone cheered, even the boys.
