I walked down the Hogwarts Train, looking for an empty compartment. I found a compartment with four boys in it. I opened the door. "Can I sit here?" I asked. "Sure," replied the boy with the curly hair. "Hi, I'm Arabella," I said, holding out my hand. The boy with the glasses shook it then pointed at the boy next to him, then the boy with the curly hair. "I am James, that's Remus, that's Peter and that's Sirius." Beside him, Sirius made a silly face. "He doesn't look sirius," I said. They all laughed.

We sat quietly for a few moments. I sneakily out a dung bomb from my bag and stood up. "I'm going to the bathroom," I said and pretended to drop the dung bomb on the seat as I left. I watched out of sight as James picked up the dung bomb and shook his head. Then it suddenly exploded in his face. I walked back in howling with laughter. Then I gagged at the rancid smell that filled the compartment. James was absolutely furious, while on either side of him, Remus ans Sirius were howling with laughter. "NO ONE PRANKS THE PRANKSTER!" he yelled at me. "So, in other words, you can't prank me," I replied with a smirk. "Come on, come on! Get out!" James yelled. "Ok, I'm leaving! Calm down woman. I'll see you ladies around," I said and walked away.

I kept wandering down the train and I found a completely empty  compartment at the back and sat down at the window, dumping my bag on the seat opposite me. I curled up and started crying. 'There you go again, you blew it. What did you expect?'  I thought. I just sat there for the rest of the ride, letting my thoughts torture me.

When we got to Hogsmeade Station, I got off the train, pulling my robe sleeves down and wiping my eyes. "Firs' years, over here," a giant man calls. I move with the crowd of first years towards the man, and he leads us to the boats to cross the lakes. I spot the boys giving me the death glare and I just look away, looking at the water. I have a slight fear of water after an incident in one of my former foster homes. I carefully climb into a boat, three other kids climbing in, talking and taking no notice of me. I don't care, I'm used to it.

As we were getting out of the boats on the other side of the lake, Sirius tripped and fell into the mud. The boys and I roared with laughter as Sirius glared at us and stood up. I leaned into his ear and said, "You should wear mud more often, it complements your complexion. We headed up to the outside of the Great Hall. Then a stern looking woman came to greet us. "This way please," she said and lead us into the hall. Once we were all at the front, James stood on my left and Sirius stood on my right, wiping mud from his eyes. Then the woman, who I soon learnt to be Professor McGonagal, brought out a stool and a hat. She then unrolled a scroll and started to call out names.

"Black, Sirius."

"GRYFFINDOR" the hat yelled.

"Evans, Lily."

This girl caught my attention for some reason. I watched as she walked up to the stool and sat down. The hat was quiet for half a minute before it yelled "GRYFFINDOR!"

She happily went and sat down. Remus got called and before the hat could touch it yelled"GRYFFINDOR!" Then after a few Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs and Slytherins, my name was called. I went and sat on the stool. The hat sat on top of my head. "Kind and loyal like a Hufflepuff, yet a little arrogant. I think your bravery is your most defined feature though...GRYFFINDOR!" he yelled and Sirius and James banged their heads on the table. I go sit five seats down from them. Then, after about thirty more people, dinner appeared. My eyes widened at the amount of food on the table and I dig in.

After dinner, we were led to Gryffindor Common Room, the prefects explaining the password and where dorms were. I dumped my bag, getting changed into normal clothes and waiting for all lights to go out in the dorm and common room. Then I leave, not bothering to put shoes on.

I wander down to the lake, sitting under the tree in the moon light. I watch the water, the way it moves ever so slightly in the wind and then there is a flash of a shimmery tail. I smile and get up, climbing up the tree to get a better view of the area. At the top, I can see the forest and the castle, all the little candles in the hall. I just sit there, when I hear a voice call up to me. "What are you doing up there?" a voice calls up. I drop out of the tree, landing on my feet. "What are you doing out here?" I ask. Remus is standing there. "Why are you here, Remus? Your friends don't like me," I pointed out to him. "I just wanted to see if you were okay," Remus says. "Oh...I'm alright, thank you," I reply quietly, a little shocked. "Your wrists say otherwise," he says. "Don't tell anyone. Please," I beg him. He sighs reluctantly. "Ok," he says and I hug him. We walk back to the Common Room, heading towards our dorms. "See you around, Remus," I say, and head to bed. I fell asleep with dread for tomorrow in my mind.
