"Alright Odyssey. What's your status?"
"We are clear for launch, Huston."
Jarrod smiles as his childhood dream of exploring space comes true. With his best friend Meredith at his side.
This is the first two person team to go into space.
"Roger that, Odyssey. We go live in 5."
Meredith grabs hold of Jarrod's hand as her breathing gets staggered. "I'm kinda scared....what if we don't make it?"
He laughs a bit as he turns to face her. "As long as you're by my side, I'm willing to go anywhere and do anything with you...."
She smiles a bit, her anxiety fading away. "A-alright then, Jarrod."
*4 minutes later*
"Odyssey, you are clear for takeoff."
Meredith shivers in her seat. "Is it too late to turn back?" Jarrod giggles like a dork. "I'm afraid so, love. Now don't be scared. It's bad for judgement."
Meredith nods her head and starts to take some deep breaths to calm down. She then starts the launch sequence.
"Thrusters. Online."
"Oxygen and life support. Online."
"Auto pilot. Online."
"Computer systems. Online."
"Counting down. Five.
Four.
Three.
Two.
Ignition!"
They then get pushed back into their seats due to the force of the launch. After about 5 minutes, they break through the atmosphere and reach their childhood dreams: space. They finally made it. They dismount a few of the boosters as they get closer to their destination:
Mars....
They look over at each other and smile like idiots.
"We made it...."
