Chapter 8
Cindy rolled some strands of her hair around her left index finger. She was fussing too much. The thought of being with Layne’s family troubled her. Regret really does come after. She could’ve just let Layne tell his mom and sisters she got important things to attend to.
“Stop fidgeting,” Kim trailed Cindy out of her disturbed thinking. Kim gave out soft chuckles... she was too amused with her friend’s state.
“I can’t help it. I feel really nervous,” Cindy didn’t even deny it. “What if the girls would give me a hard time?” She looked at herself in the mirror and fixed the part of her hair that she bungled.
“Really? I think you’re more worried that they won’t like you,” Kim accused as she grinned a flashy allegation. “You care Cindy Lopez.”
“I don’t,” she quickly refuted, got her things on hold and announced, “It’s quite hot here I’ll wait for you outside.”
“It’s freakin’ winter babe,” Kim teased while Cindy strode out thumping her wedges, unminding Kim’s bantering.
As Cindy went out of the girls’ restroom, a grinning Layne greeted her. He ran his one hand through his dirty blonde hair.
“We have to go,” he smiled as he reached out his hand for Cindy to hold. “Let’s go?”
As if reading Cindy’s mind, “go ahead, I’ll just let Kim know you two already left,” Exel offered.
“Thanks,” Cindy gave Exel a small smile, and then she eyed Layne’s reaching hand and gave him hers reluctantly.
Arriving at the boys’ mansion, Cindy felt more than uneasy. Layne let her wait in the living room as he went upstairs to get her mom and sisters. After a short while, small little thumping shoes were heard inside the mansion. The battering sound of shoes meeting the marvellous wooden grand stairs of the equally splendid momentary home of her five superstar friends meant that Layne’s little sisters were approaching.
Cindy looked up to the stairs and found herself smiling towards two beautiful identical little angels. She couldn’t even tell them apart. Both with the same shoulder-length, straight, dirty blonde hair just like the shade of Layne’s and both wearing the classic plaid pink dress with cute ribbons. Blaze and Glaze ran their way to her and paused when they were only a meter away from her.
“Hi,” Cindy smiled and waved towards them.
“Hello,” the one on the left sweetly greeted back. This must be Glaze, Cindy assumed.
“You’re Cindy?” the other one asked nonchalantly as she stared at Cindy’s face.
“Yes,” Cindy simply replied with a smile and bow down to her level, “and you must be Blaze?” Cindy saw Blaze’s face soften and lighten telling her she was right. Cindy turned to the one who said her hello, “and you’re Glaze.”
“Wow,” Glaze exclaimed. “How did you know?” she excitedly asked as her adorable blue eyes glistened.
“Only few could tell as apart,” Blaze was looking composed but there was something on her expression that showed her amazement. “And you just met as seconds ago.”
Cindy softly giggled. The two really looked exactly the same. The only basis to identify them physically of who-is-who is to look at the color of their eyes for Glaze’s adorable eyes are a little darker. But it was easier to tell them apart by their personality.
“Are the girls troubling you?” Layne suddenly appeared beside her as his hand wandered its way to her waist. Cindy looked up to him to meet his eyes.
