It was freezing. The rain stung as it blew hard into my face. The winds were too strong for my umbrella; I walked with only my collar turned up. I sneezed. Great, now I'm sick.
The streets were empty except for a few stragglers, like myself, and the taxies. Everyone was full. It was at least another hours walk to my apartment. I sighed and pulled my coat tighter around me.
I was dead tired and the rain was coming down heavy. I had my phone, but the prospect of having to call someone bothered me. It was late, really late. I didn't want anyone to get out if bed this hour to come and pick me up. However, I reluctantly pulled out my phone and ,with a mixture if relief and annoyance, realized it was dead.
With rain dripping in my eyes and teeth chattering I squinted and looked off into the distance. I saw A blurred form, a house, with an amber glow emitting from it's windows. Maybe I could use their phone.
As I stepped up onto the porch of the house(mansion rather) my heals clicked loudly. With hands shaking form cold ,I knocked. Moments later a man opened the door. He was large but something in his eyes was kind. The only unnerving thing about him was his missing hand.
"May I help you?" He asked.

"Yes-um-i was wondering if u could use your phone? Mines dead and I've been walking in the rain for ages. Please, I just need to make a quick phone call."

The large man looked me up and down then turned his head to face the hallway inside, "Boss!" He called.
Less than a minute later another man came down the hall. He had a sort of limp and was supported by a walking stick.

"Butch, I told you not to bother me unless it was important," he said a bit irritably. He was a lot shorter then the man called Butch and was smartly dressed even though it was passed midnight and no signs if any gathering could be seen.

"This lady wants the use the phone," Butch explained. The smaller looked me up and down. My (h/c) hair was dripping into my face, I was shaking from head to foot, and my large (e/c) eyes made me look like a stray cat. Shy, jumpy, intriguing, he thought.
He smiled "Nonsense, no need calling up someone this late, you can stay here tonight."

My eyes widened. "Oh no I couldn't possibly-"

"please say you will." He did cutting me short.

"I'd feel absolutely dreadful if you were to catch cold or get hurt on a night like this. I could never forgive myself." I looked back into the pounding rain. I really didn't want to call anyone and I really, really didn't want to continue walking. I turned back to face the man, his blue/green eyes shining oddly in the yellow glow of the house lights.

  "Are you sure," I asked.

"Yes, I insist," he said still smiling.

  "Alright."

"Lovely!" He said capping his hands together quite suddenly. "Butch get her a towel. Are you hungry?" He asked

  "a bit."
