The beginning

The next morning I woke up still thinking about my dream. Last night had been the first time in almost ten years that i had dreamed about my father. I sat up weakly and went into the kitchen.

It had been about a month since i'd shone up at Oswald's door step. I was still living in my apartment but just barely. Oswald was working on getting me moved out. I'd asked him why he was paying so much money to move all my things and his answer made me smile everytime i thought about it. "Because, you are the most beautiful person of earth and I should be able to see your face every morning," I could still hear him say as I walked into the kitchen.

"Morning dearest!" Oswald said now as I sat down, slipping back into the bleak memories of my father.

"Are you ready for our big day?" he asked. Today would be the day Oswald announced his candidacy for mayor.

"Yes, of course." I said as he sat down opposite of me. He pushed a plate towards me.

"You should eat." he stated. I looked down at the plate of eggs, bacon, and toast. The toast was smeared with strawberry jam. A vision of blood flashed across my thoughts, making me physically flinch.

"I-I'm not hungry," I said pushing the plate away. A worried look spread across his face.

"Are you alright?" he asked. I rubbed my eyes.

"Yeah, yes, I'm fine," I lied,

"just a little tired that's all."

"You would tell me if something was wrong, wouldn't you?" he asked setting a hand on top of mine.

  "Yes, love, of course."

Someone drove me back to my apartment so I could get dressed. I thanked the man driving and closed the door casually. I dropped my purse and rushed towards the couch and banged around in the side table until I pulled out a bottle. I unscrewed the top and poured five small green pills into my hand. They were for anxiety, but they weren't good for anything other than a caffine like buzz in the morning. I swallowed them dry.
