Continuous Affair

Announcement

"Severus. Get dressed. We have to leave in 10 minutes."

"I don't understand why I have to go. These are your friends."

"You were in the order with Molly and Arthur. They're your friends too."

"No we were colleagues." He laid back on the bed pulling a book out of his bedside table.

"Severus Tobias Snape, you get up right now and get ready for dinner."

Severus groaned as he pushed himself off the bed and walked towards the dresser. "You're very annoying. Do you know that?"

Hermione rolled her eyes and glared at him. She stepped into the bathroom to apply some makeup. She came out looking radiant, but angry.

"What's the matter love?"

"What's the matter is that you don't take this stuff seriously! All I want to do is have a nice dinner at the Weasley's and tell them about the baby. You just make everything so damn dramatic."

Severus was taken back by her sudden decline in mood. He went to go rub her back but she quickly stepped away shooting him another glare.

"Hermione, why are you so mad at me?"

She shook her head and pursed her lips. She turned her back on him but he grabbed her wrist and quickly spun her around.

"If this is how you're going to act for the entire pregnancy, I don't want to be around."

Hermione instantly burst into tears and leaned her forehead into his chest. He hesitantly wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "I'm sorry love. I just... I don't know what's wrong with me. I just get upset over the smallest things."

"Well don't worry love, I'll try not to make you upset."

"Good luck."

Severus grabbed his coat off the edge of the bed and threw it on before escorting Hermione to the fireplace.

They arrived in the living room of the burrow apparently just after Harry. Molly gave a huge smile and walked to hermione with outstretched arms. "Oh Hermione dear you look lovely! It's been far too long!"

Lavender was sitting on the couch holding a small red haired baby who was fast asleep. "Oh Lavender!" Hermione exclaimed "he is just too cute for words." She reached her hand down and stroked his face. "The last time I saw little Arthur, you were still in the hospital. Sorry we haven't been able to get around. Busy year."

Ginny came up a few moments later and the three girls sat together talking excitedly. Arthur came up behind Severus and slapped him on the back causing him to glare and groan.

"Ah Severus. How nice of you to join us. George bet me 10 galleons you wouldn't show tonight."

"Well I guess I've made you a rich man." Severus said so even toned it was almost painful. Arthur let out a big laugh and slapped his back again before going to George to fetch his reward.

Severus turned and retreated to a small chair over in the corner as he watched the busy household. All the women were huddled around the small child and he saw Hermione glowing with excitement. She played with his hands and made absurd faces and silly sounds.

Molly clapped her hands and ushered everyone to the table. Severus and Arthur were the only two to pull out a chair for their wives and this made Severus rather angry. Did these other men have no respect for the women that made their lives tick?

Severus sat beside Hermione and placed his hand on her thigh under the table. She could tell he was upset but she gave him a reassuring smile before leaning in to whisper in his ear "don't worry dear. You do it for me and that's all that matters. I love you." He squeezed her leg slightly and sat up straight.

Everyone began to pile food onto their plates and talk excitedly about everything that was happening in their lives. Hermione sat quietly slowly picking at her food before suddenly standing up and running to the loo.

When she did this, the room went silent and everyone cast their gaze towards Severus who slowly followed his wife. When he came to the door around the corner, he could hear Hermione retching. He tapped slightly on the door but he didn't hear a response so he opened it slightly and snuck in.

Hermione was kneeling on the floor with her head above the toilet. Her hair had fallen down to the sides of her face. He walked to her side and gently gathered her hair in his hands while rubbing her back. "You usually don't start for a couple more hours."

She responded by vomiting again then leaning her head back against Severus' arm.

There was another knock at the door and Molly peered in. "I brought you a soda water dear. Anything I can do?"

Severus reached for the glass and handed it to Hermione. "We'll be out in a moment. Thank you Molly."

Hermione took several sips and then slowly pushed herself to stand. "Alright. I think I'm fine now." She opened the door and exited followed again by her husband. She walked back into the dining room where everyone looked up at her worried.

"Well, I guess the cat is out of the bag." She said with a small laugh. "I'm pregnant."

Ginny was the first to jump up and hug her. "Hermione that's wonderful! I'm so happy for you!" She hugged her again while everyone else gathered around to hug her as well.

Severus again retreated to a corner and watched all the excited faces.
