"Are you sure about this?" Brendon murmured, looking down at me. We currently stood in the parking lot of my house- not my grandma's, mine. I would admit, I was low key urging Brendon to persuade me not to go in, but instead of doing that, he simply let me have the reigns.

"Yeah! Of course, I mean, what could go wrong?" Everything. Everything could go wrong. My mom could hate me for being anything but straight. My dad could be drunk and ready to shove me up against something. They could already be divorced, and one could be moved out.

"Remember, Ry, if anything goes sour I'm right here." Brendon whispered, rubbing a hand up and down my back. I nodded slowly, puffing my chest out.

"I have no reason to be afraid, right?" I asked, hopefully directing my attention at Brendon. "Uh..no promises, but I will remind you that if your father decides to lay a hand on you, I'll beat his ass-" Brendon snarled, looking at nothing in particular. I smiled softly.

"Oh." I answered. Brendon's expression softened. "I'm sorry. I'm just trying to make you feel better.." I smiled again, "I know. You're fine, just...here, give me your hand." Brendon held his hand away from my back, instead out to me.

I took his hand in mine, intertwining our fingers. I felt closer and well...safer, when we were holding hands. Brendon smiled, sighing softly. He brought my knuckles to his lips, chastely kissing them, before pulling me forward.

I knocked on the door twice, and when I went to knock again, the door swung open with such force it startled me. I dropped my hand, staring at my mother. She looked terrible. With bags under her eyes, pale skin, she just overall looked very unhealthy.

"R-Ryan! My baby," My mom squealed, rushing forward to embrace me. I stumbled backward slightly in surprise, before hesitantly resting my arms around her to return the hug. Brendon stood awkwardly off to the side, our hands had been ripped apart during the hug.

"Mom..what's happened? I didn't run away, you know, I was just at Grandma's.." My mom pulled away, holding firmly onto my shoulders. She turned to shout, "George! Look, our son is back!" I stiffened- from the corner of my eyes I noticed Brendon tense up as well. I gave hi a panicked expression.

My father lumbered out from the living room, raising an eyebrow. "Back? Where'd you go to, boy?" He snapped, gruffly beckoning us inside. My mom forced me to come in, dragging me in, and left Brendon to awkwardly waddle in behind us.

"Wait, who's this?" My father pointed a finger at me. After a few seconds, I realized he was pointing not at me, but behind me, at Brendon. Brendon opened his mouth to reply, but nothing but a squeak came out. He didn't know how to address my parents. I would've burst out laughing if the situation wasn't so serious.

I slipped out of my mom's grasp, sliding into Brendon's one outstretched arm. Quietly, but sure of my actions, I turned and pressed a kiss against Brendon's cheek, before turning to smile at my parents; their mouths were dropped in surprise at my affection.

"Mom, Dad, this is Brendon Urie, my boyfriend." I spoke confidently, then to top it off, added a sweet smile. My parents stared at me uncertainly, but Brendon seemed a little more relaxed. I pressed my face into his shoulder, before tilting my face up towards his ear, and whispering,

"You do realize they didn't know I liked boys.." I whispered, before taking his hand, and tugging him over to the dining room table. My father seemed surprised that I'd made myself at home, but my mom was a smiling mess as she started cooking dinner.

"Tell me more about yourself, Brendon!" My mom squealed, just like a proud mother would. I'm pretty sure she was just happy I'd been being social since I went to my grandma's. When I glanced at Brendon, who sat on the other side of the table from me, I recognized growing rosebuds of embarrassment on his cheeks. I giggled, dropping my head down.

"Well, I'm going to be eighteen tomorrow! I'm, um..in the same grade as Ryan, and I play guitar. I sing sometimes too, but not very often." I raised my head in surprise- Brendon sang?!

"Tomorrow? Aw, well happy birthday!" My mom glanced over her should, blinking through the tears to show more happiness. The happiness was spread into Brendon, too, and within seconds we were all smiling and giggling as we talked.

"Speaking of which, can I make a reservation on the garage tomorrow?" I finally spoke up. If I wasn't able to, it'd be okay. I figured grandma would allow mw to. I had plans to cover the entire garage with colorful paint, colorful glow in the dark paint. Which meant I had to go shopping today.

"Aah, um, sure? Is it to celebrate his birthday?" She pointed at Brendon, who was distracted, and must I add utterly engrossed in the design patterns on the wallpaper until my mom mentioned his birthday - then he raised his head up with curiosity. I nodded, looking between the two.

"Yeah. Speaking of which, Brendon, you gotta go after we finish dinner. I have places to be...for your birthday, I need to set up the activity we're doing tomorrow." I insisted. Brendon groaned, but in the end he agreed. I grinned, cocking my head to the side.

When dinner was done, I beckoned Brendon over. He pushed his plate respectfully to the side, then started over towards me. He stood behind me, I was forced to actually raise to my feet before I could reach his lips. But when I was able to, I snatched a quick kiss from him, then starting pushing him from the house.

"Go on, peasant, I have shopping to do." I insisted, he smiled, rolling his eyes like he always did when I purposely acted like a brat towards him. "Shopping for me, I presume?" I nodded. "Aw, how sweet! The prince cares about his sweet subjects!"

"I care for you about as much as I care for blood red wine. Zero. Nada!" I joked, winking. I gave him one finale kiss, and he was on his way, and I was on my way. Down to Jon's house.
