<JAYMES POINT OF VIEW> (country guy with red hair)
“You want me to join the worst team, while training your used to be gothic twin how to play, while Danny films it all for a class no one knew he was taking?”
“Yes.” Both Danny and Marcus replied at the same time. What were they thinking? What was I thinking? What the hell am I supposed to say?
“Can I ask Steven a question?” I looked over at Steven, who was now sitting at our table; which I did not agree with. Just because he cut his hair doesn’t make him any different. Hell I was quite frightened to have him so close to me.
“Ask me whatever.” Steven popped his feet up on the table.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” I spit out then realizing I actually said that out loud.
“Excuse me?” He looked taken back.
“Who just cuts their damn hair and just all of a sudden wants to play a sport they never cared about?”
“Would you be talking to me right now if I would have kept my hair?”
“The way you look doesn’t matter, the fact you thought you had to change means you’re just trying to impress us and means you are scared to be different.”
“Then why don’t you look different country boy, with all your y’alls and camo hats.” Steven put his feet down and stared at me. Anger was building up.
“Something isn’t right with you! Something isn’t right with him! You can’t just change everything you are in an hour and say you’re a different person. You just can’t.” I stood up and walked away.
I just couldn’t believe that Marcus and Danny were now all friendly friends with Steven. They pretty much didn’t care how I felt. They just left me out of it. The last two years Danny and Marcus had always left me out of things. Marcus was the decision maker and Danny simply followed to scared to voice his opinion. And I was the one who didn’t hear about things till a week later.
I knew I wasn’t going to be on any team with Billy, but now I didn’t want to be on any team, Steven just fucked my life.
I walked out of the lunch room and to my car. I was a senior so I had lockout. However I usually stayed for lunch just to be with Danny and Marcus but now that was ruined. I really need to make new friends.
I got in my truck and rode away. Where would I go? I couldn’t go home my dad would have his drunken friends over since it was Friday. I decided I would just head over to the river side diner. It was a small place that had been here forever. They made some good pot pies and my aunt worked there. I pulled up and went inside. I took a seat at the counter.
After a few minutes my aunt came out.
“Jaymes!” She put her elbow on the counter and leaned on it.
“What can I help you with sir?” She smiled. So did I. Aunt Maggie had short brown curly hair. She had a few wrinkles but yet she was gorgeous. She didn’t wear makeup and she embraced her older body even though she was only 49.
“I will take a pot pie and a decaf coffee.” I smiled.
“You are going to get fat eating all these pot pies, and who drinks decaf?”
“People who want coffee at 1 in the afternoon.” I muttered. She laughed.
“You’re like an old man, Jaymes.”
She pulled out a mug and poured in the coffee. It swirled in a circle before in settled with a ripple.
“You look down.” Aunt Maggie said and I raised my head.
