It's not like this was a situation sixteen year old Alexandria Williams expected to find herself in. Of course this isn't what she wanted, but she had no other option. Recently Alexandria, or Alex, had just left the court house in the centre of the small town she had lived in with her father for years. Alex's father, James, had just been taken into custody for accused murder, which only meant one thing, Alex was being forced to live with her mother in the big city of Dublin. Alex knew her father was innocent, heck everyone in the small town knew James was innocent, he was a nice, kind, quiet man, he wouldn't hurt a fly. The only reason he was even arrested for it was because the murder happened right next door to his home and he ran to make sure his neighbour was alright. The police just had to catch him at the wrong time. Back to the topic of conversation though! Until the court hearing, which wasn't to take place for a whole year! Alex had to live with her mother, the women she despised, to Alex her mother was not her mother, she just gave birth to her and that was it. The only real mother Alex ever had in her life was her father's ex-wife, she loved Maddie, but sadly Maddie passed away two years ago due to a life threatening influenza. Now she was stook with the wretched women whom her father had gladly taken her away from, her name is Geraldine.
"My, my, how you've grown so much!" Alex heard a light Dublin accent say, she grimmaced when she realised who it was.
"Well it has been ten years since you last seen me, Geraldine." Alex gritted through her teeth, she mentally cursed at the sight of the woman before her, resting upon a car. The worst part about all of this was that Alex looked almost identical to her mother, so every time she looked in the mirror all she could see was her mother's long brown hair and grey blue eyes.
"Look, Alex, I know you're not so cool with living with me, but I'm going to be brutally honest niether am I but I am not going to let you be sent to an orphanage." Geraldine told her as she opened the car door for Alex to climb in. Alex sighed and got in the car, accidently hitting her head off the roof.
"Nice one, Alex." Alex thought to herself as she hoped her mother didn't notice, thankfully she didn't as she closed the door and walked to the drivers side.
"I have to drop by the house and grab the last few bits and pieces." Alex almost mummbled, she fainly saw her mother nod in response. "You still know the way to the house?"
"I'll always remember, it was my home too once upon a time." Geraldine told her, Alex scoffed under her breath.
"Yeah, once a long time ago." She spoke so lowly she barely heard herself. About 10 minutes later the car pulled up to a big three story house. Yes it was only Alex and her father who lived there now but there use to be many more, her parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle all lived there too for years, even before Alex was born. They couldn't afford to live separately so they just shared one big house. Geraldine knew better to stay in the car while Alex went to retrieve the last of her things. As Alex walked into the house she took in her surroundings, she was going to miss this place without a doubt. She grabbed a few bags from her room and left them out in the hall ready to drag them out the front door. As she lifted up the last bag she found something underneath it, a book. Curiousity got the better of her and she looked at it, she gasped at the book, she hadn't read it in years. Peter Pan, her favourite childhood fairytail, she use to always dream that Peter Pan would fly her to Neverland but, of course, bring her back to her father and Maddie. She smiled at the memories and shoved the book into the bag, gathering her bags she dragged them out the front door, struggling to carry them all. Geraldine got out of the car and began to approach her, she took a few bags from her and walked ahead, Alex was in shock. Had her mother just gotten a huge reality check? Her mother would never be that generous to help someone else.
"Do you have everything now? Besides the whole house obviously." Geraldine attempted to joke, Alex felt the corners of her mouth curve up slightly, then stopped herself.
"Yes, I'm ready now." Alex answered and they sad back down in the car, Geraldine twisted the car and they heard the engine come to life. "Ready to go to hell." Alex sighed and looked out the window for the whole duration of the drive.
