They arrived at Geraldine's house within and hour and a half. After her mother helped Alex carry all of her stuff into the house she guided her to her new bedroom. The house wasn't as big as Alex's was but it wasn't tiny, it was like Geraldine, slightly more over the top than average.

"This'll be your room, I tried to make it as comfortable as possible." Geraldine told Alex as she placed the bags on the floor. "Dinner should be ready soon, would you like anything to eat or drink or anything?" Alex shook her head, not wanting to accept anything off of the woman who neglected her for 10 years of her life. She heard her mother sigh loudly and raised an eyebrow at her. "Well then, you know where to find me if you need me." Geraldine turned to walk out but was stopped by Alex's voice.

"Actually no, I don't know where to find you." Alex told her, she wasn't being sarcastic, but rather genuine.

"Down the stairs and the first door to your left, that's the living room." She smiled and Alex just nodded, once again she walked to the door.

"Err, Geraldine?" Alex called, the woman turned around once more, "erm, thanks." Alex gave her a slight smile, but her mother looked like she had just told her she won the lottery.

"Anytime, dear." And then finally, Geraldine was gone down the stairs. Alex sat down on the bed, she felt a bit out of place and couldn't get comfortable. She looked around the room, admiring the decor and random items on the shelves. It looked like a teenagers room, but would her mother really do all of this for her? Alex remembered the book in her bag and took it out to read. But first she kicked off her shoes and lay back on the bed, trying to imagine that she was at home.

"Ah, Pan, bet you missed me." She mumbled to herself before opening the book up to the first page. The more she read the sleepier she felt, hey eyes kept getting heavier and heavier until finally she couldn't keep them open anymore.

"Alex," She was awoken from her dream by the sound of her name.

"Yes?" Alex grumbled, she was so tired, but she could smell food, and now she was hungry.

"I have dinner for you down stairs." Alex heard her mother say in a low voice. She sighed and sat up in the bed yawning.

"Coming down now." She slowly stepped onto the ground and opened her eyes properly, it was dark now. As she walked down the stairs the took a moment to silently appreciate the less amount of stairs in her mothers house compared to her own. There was an awkward tension in the air during dinner. Whenever Geraldine would ask Alex a question about friends, school ect, she only got one worded answers in reply.

"You looking forward to joining school here?" Geraldine asked, Alex shook her head.

"To be quite honest, I'm not looking forward to doing anything here." Alex answered, granted it was the longest answer she had given all night but that made Geraldine snap.

"Look Alexandria! I'm trying to ease the tension here and you keep making it worse. I understand that you hate me and you wish you could live in an animal shelter instead of here but you can't so sorry! We have to put up with each other, and I'll be damned if I'm letting you go again." Her mother spoke, Alex looked at her, she could tell her mother was being dead serious.

"Well, if you want to start off on a new slide that could probably help." Alex suggested, she knew her mother had a point, there was no point in wishing for anything less than a home. Geraldine smiled and agreed, after that they had a civilised conversation. Alex was still tired though from earlier so she got dressed in her pyjamas and brushed her teeth early. She passed her mother who was sitting in the living room watching Supernatural, Alex's favourite show.

"Goodnight, Ger." She said, Geraldine smiled at the nickname.

"Goodnight, Alex." Her mother replied, also earning a smile. Alex got into bed, she was ready to fall asleep when she heard a soft noise. Her eyes opened wide and she sat up looking around frantically, she noticed the window was opened and figured a leaf probably flew in. She got out of bed and closed the window, but just as she was turned around, she bumped into someone. She looked up at the smirking face of the person, when she didn't know who it was she panicked, just as she was about to scream for Geraldine and person blew something in her face. Before she could do or say anything, everything went black and she fell forward into the arms of the mystery person.
