Sadie POV
"Why did you do this?" I asked Andy, with my arms still around him. It had only been a day since our fight, but I still missed him. I may have not wanted to be with him the way he wanted, but I still wanted him in my life. He may have been annoying the crap right out of me, but he was still a good person.
"Can we talk in private?" Andy asked.
I nodded my head and then turned to Jackson, "I'll be right back," I smiled before turning back to Andy and allowing him to pull me out the back door.
He slid his hand into mine, causing a warm sensation to run up my arm. I wouldn't call it butterflies, but more like comfort. I was used to Andy, he was always around when I needed him and when I didn't. He was definitely one of my best friends and I was happy that things seemed to be ok with us. I didn't even realize that I had missed him until I walked into the house and saw his bright smile.
"So what's up?" I asked.
"I did this to say that I'm sorry," Andy began, giving me a small smile, "I acted crazy the other day, but you were right. I was just using you to fill the hole that the loss of Kendal left inside me."
If it was possible, my heart broke a little at his words. Just hearing him admit it made me feel guilty for yelling at him. Although I believed what he was saying, I felt suspicious. It was just last night that he claimed to still want me and now, not even 24 hours later, he realizes he was wrong?
"That's great Andy," I smiled, keeping my thoughts to myself. I would give him the benefit of the doubt, he was one of my closet friends and I would allow him to redeem himself. "Thank you for the party."
"You're welcome," he smiled.
Andy threw his arm around my shoulder and pulled me back into the house. He let go of me the moment he saw Elly, who was holding Ember. He swooped in and pulled Ember away, swinging her around in the air. The kitchen immediately filled with high pitched baby squeals and giggles.
"What was that about?" Jackson asked from behind me.
I turned around and leaned into him, enjoying a completely different type of warmth than what I had with Andy. "Oh, we got into an argument the other day, he was just apologizing," I told him, obviously leaving out all the details.
"Is today Ember's birthday?" He asked, his words came out short and had a slight edge to it.
I pulled away and cocked my head to the side, "Yeah, she's one today."
"You didn't tell me," He said, his voice growing darker.
"I guess I didn't think about it," I shrugged trying to diffuse the situation that was growing between us.
"So Andy gets to know, but I don't, the father of the child?"
I stared at him in disbelief. I knew he was mad just by the tone of his voice. His jaw was clenched when he wasn't talking and his face a taken on a slight red tint. Everything about him screamed how angry he was. "Well he knows because he was helping me set some stuff up yesterday."
"What about me Sadie?"
"Jackson relax," I whispered, pulling him farther into the kitchen and away from our guests. "I just didn't think about it, it was an accident."
"Another man is throwing a party for my daughter, how do you think that makes me feel?" He growled out. His eyes began to turn yellow, warning me that his wolf was close.
"What do you want me to do?" I hissed, "I can't help it that my friend threw a party for my daughter." I threw my hands up in the air to emphasize how ridiculous I found the whole conversation.
