Chapter 9

Ann's POV

-

"Matt! Marcus! John! come on inside!" I yell as I see dark clouds rapidly coming our way. I open the door to the glass room. Where I set up mattresses and blankets and pillows all over to watch the storm...three years ago. that's when dad left Rebecca for Linn.

My mom still wasn't home from her new job and it's already 6:04. oh we'll I'll call her later.

-30 minutes later-

"Guys come on!" I rush them into the glass room right as the first clap of thunder sounded. Charlie started to whimper so I pick her up and take her out of the room. Lightning illuminated the kitchen as I walked out of the room. I had told Matt about me taking care of Spencer and Charlie and he agreed to help out the month he's here.

"Thank you Matt." I had said.

"You're welcome Ann." he said picking up Charlie. She burped and then laughed as Matt made gagging noises. His girlfriend is a lucky girl.

Yes he has a girlfriend. but he lied to her so he could visit me. they kind of have a dead relationship too. I've heard she's cheated...i may or not have been eavesdropping on him talking to her yesterday...

"Charlie are you hungry? I ask grabbing her bottle and showing it to her.

She grabs it and sucks on it like it's the last thing she will ever have to hold onto. I go into the living room and watch the dark clouds roll off the sky ever so slowly. the sun breaks through at 7:00.

Charlie fell asleep in my arms but I didn't want to move. Afraid I will wake up the fragile child. she had a small amount of blonde hair like her mom. I looked at the bag of stolen money on the ground by my foot. I kicked it away, looking out the window at the darkening sky.

Matthew's POV

-

After an hour of storm watching Marcus and John fall asleep so one by one I take them to their rooms. I pick up Spencer next and he stirs a little but doesn't wake up.

I head to the living room and see Ann holding Charlie. Fast asleep.

I quickly make a bed for Charlie on the floor with a throw blanket and pillow. I set him down and he rolls onto his side. I go to the closet and pull out three blankets. what? I've been here so many times I even know where Ann hides a bunch of stuff from her mom and dad. in the plant by the front door is an old key to their garage. why she is hiding that I'll never know.

I create a little crib bed for Charlie on the floor next to Spencer out of the blankets in maybe 3 minutes. I gently pick up the small, helpless baby and set her in the hand made crib. Setting a blanket over her was a pain because I was afraid even the slightest thing would wake her up.

"Come on." I whisper picking up Ann. she softly snores and talks in her sleep which is the cutest thing ever. But I have a girlfriend...

Nicole. She's cheated twice. I call her.

"Hello?" I ask

"Matthew! hey how are you?" I heard a chuckle in the background.

"I'm great. I'm just calling you because we are through."

"What?!" she screams.

"I'm done with you cheating. I know you're with a guy right now. Thanks for your sweet time." I hang up and block her from my phone. maybe I should get a new number...

Nah.
