I smiled to myself as I slipped inside the museum through the window on the ceiling. You know, for a place that contains so many beautiful jewels and artifacts, they sure don't have much security. Well, the common thief might not be able to get past the motion sensors and guards, but I'm different. I work undercover in Gotham city, making a living by doing the dirty work for the criminals who are too lazy to do it themselves. It pays the bills.
Tonight I was after some stone that this mafia guy wanted. I had to be more careful lately, since now there wasn't just Batman, but that Nightwing guy too. My boyfriend of two years, Dick, seemed to think that the guy was pretty cool, but to me he was an annoyance, just one more thing to watch out for. Dick had no idea that I broke the law on a daily basis though; we didn't live together, so it was always easy to get around him asking me why I'm always out at night.
As I made my way through the museum, sliding past lazers and guards, I finally found what I came here for. It was a beautiful gem, really, but not a challenge. I prefer taking on the tough jobs; anyone could steal this. I cut a circle through the glass case and slowly reached in, gently lifting the dazzling white stone from where it sat in it's box. "Miss, I'm going to need you to put that down." a deep voice said, startling me. I whipped around, still holding the jewel, to see Nightwing, standing with two escrima sticks and a set look to his jaw.
"Wow, a surprise visit from a superhero!" I squealed sarcastically. "Today's my lucky day." I ducked as he threw something at me, and rolled away, shooting a grappling gun at the ceiling. As I started to go up, I felt something coil around my ankle and I was slammed back down onto the ground. Groaning, I tried to stand, but Nightwing pinned me down, and he was too heavy for me to push off.
"Gee, what do you eat for breakfast?" I grumbled as I tried to escape. That's when he finally got a good look at my face, and his mouth dropped open a little. "(Y-Y/n)?" he stuttered. My eyes widened in surprise. "How do you know my name?" I demanded angrily.
Instead of answering, he sighed, and stood up, dragging me, kicking and punching, with him. He glared at me for a second before putting my arms behind me, trapping them in handcuffs. I growled in frustration for not getting out of there sooner, and as Nightwing pushed me towards the door, I tried a sob story that I hoped would make him feel bad and maybe even let me go.
"Please, I'm just a poor mother of two with an alchoholic husband!" I cried. "I'm just trying to support my kids, I don't have time to go to school. This was the only way, I swear I'll stop!" I lied. He laughed a little at my dramatic monologue.
"Nice try... you better hope that your "husband" bails you out." He stated sarcastically. I pouted and walked out of the museum.

I called Dick as soon as I got to the station, and 10 minutes later, he finally arrived. I was led out of the cell, smiling sheepishly, as he stood with his arms crossed. I could tell that he was a little angry, but he pulled me in for a hug anyways, and I noticed a hint of laughter in his blue eyes.
"This stops (Y/n), or next time maybe I won't bail you out." He said sternly, and I gave him the puppy dog eyes. "I was never supposed to get caught..." Dick rolled his eyes and kissed me before leading me out the door and into his car.
"And an alchoholic husband?" he questioned. "Why on earth do you think he would believe you?" I glared at him.
"Hey, it could happen. But... how do you even know about that?" He smiled in amusement, and gave me a pat on the shoulder.
"That's a surprise for another day."
