Wyatt Ray, son of Colt and Hedli Ray. Right out of high school he joined up with the military. His cousin Logan just went off to college with his fiancée and he just got back from another long deployment. He's thinking of joining the rodeo circuit a...
Last night. I had only one event tonight. Bulldogging. I finished up with Luis and mounted. Wyatt came up on his horse. "So what am I doing?" He asked.
"Your going to run your horse alongside mine and grab my horse once I go for the steer." I explained. "Ok. Sounds simple enough." He said.
Once it was my turn, Wyatt was in the other box so we can close the steer off. The steer was released and as quickly as I could I dragged it down by its horns.
It was easy for me to do it. I mounted my horse and rode him out. I rode him out to the trailer to get Tex. Wyatt didn't have a heeling horse so he was going to use Dawson.
His uncle was already working on him a heeling horse. I warmed Tex up and got him ready. Dawson was pulled up beside me. Tex sidestepped. "Do they even like each other?" Wyatt asked.
"Enough to work together. I don't trailer them beside each other if that's what you wanted to know." I replied. He nodded.
After our run it was time for awards. I held Tex's reins as they called out. "Barrel racing is Cassidy Smith in first place." Wyatt took my horse's reins as I walked out.
I claimed my prize and stood off to the side. "Bareback bronc riding is once again Cassidy." I stepped back up claiming that one too.
After bulldogging and saddle bronc was bull riding. I got third place in bulldogging. "Bull riding is Wyatt Ray." I watched as he walked out in the wrangler jeans he decided to wear.
They hugged every bit of his legs. He stood next to me with the buckle. "Team roping is Cassidy Smith and Wyatt Ray." I walked up there with him and we claimed reward.
Once that was over I had three buckles and cash. Tex walked next to me not needing to be led. Dawson was on my other side.
"Do they follow you like trained dogs or something?" Wyatt asked. I nodded. "I've been around them since they were foals. I trained every single one of them." I answered.
Once back at my trailer I put the buckles inside and untacked each horse. Then brushed them down.
I led them around before putting their shipping gear on and loading each up. We went back to the ranch. I let the horses out into the paddock and went over to the guest house.
As I opened the door I found my dad, Colt, Buck, and Zach in the living room. They were drunk off their butts. I got a shower and curled up in bed.

Lubbock Tx,
I got up and out of my living quarters dressed fully for the day. Wyatt and Rylin were parked next to me. I fed and watered my boys before cleaning their stalls. Life is a rodeo, and I want to ride it all day long.
James Hunter came up to me. "Hey sweet cheeks. Busy?" He asked. "Uh yeah." I said in a duh tone. He leaned against the wall.
"You know I won't take no for an answer." He told me. I shrugged. "I've got to discuss things with my new partner." I told him walking away.
I saw my old partner walk up to Wyatt. "Sorry there's no way your going to change my mind." Wyatt told him.
Ryan glared at me. Then turned and left. I walked up to Wyatt. "What did he tell you?" I asked him. "To give up and go home." He answered. "There's no way I'm going to go back home without going to NFR." He added.
"It's fun I usually will have to buy a new pair of boots and go to the trade show there." I told him.
He nodded. I looked out seeing Rylin working with his heeling horse. The boys needed to be walked. I went back to them and got them out.
Once I was done walking them I put them away and went to my trailer. Before I could open the door an arm grabbed mine and spun me around.
I came face to face with Ryan, my old rodeo partner. "Do you think you can replace me?" He asked. I looked at him innocently. "Do you think you can just walk up to me and call it quits? I was lucky enough to find a partner before the next rodeo." I told him.
"Whatever. You'll come crawling back to me before nationals." He said before stalking away. I'll never crawl back to him. I thought to myself as I crossed my arms.
