ALEC'S POV

The snow fell like a curtain around the two of us as I pulled Stella along by her small wrist. "Come on," I urged, leading her to the swingset. She tumbles after me.

"Don't pull too hard," she groans, tripping. She lets out a squeak and I catch her before she falls. I laugh at how good she feels in my arms. "What are you laughing at? It's how heavy I am, isn't it?"

I shake my head roughly, casting off some snow from my hair. "You fit better in my hands than other girls. Sometimes it feels like they'll fall through my fingers."

She tenses up, and backs away from me, then walking to the swings. Did I say something wrong?

I take the swing next to her, and she stares down at her boots. Snow is stuck to her long eyelashes, and her hazel eyes look more green in this light.

"You look pretty," I blurt, immediately wishing I could take back what I said. She blinks, and looks at me. I don't know what to do. I shouldn't have told her that. Not yet.

"Thanks," she says, turning a deep shade of red.

I mean... its not like I have feelings for her.

I definitely don't.

I can't.

She and I are different. We've grown too far apart.

"So who is that girl from back home?" She asks.

I don't know what to say. She is that girl. She is the girl I care about. It may not be romantic, but she still holds meaning to me.

"Don't worry about it," I try to play.

She nods,

"What about a guy...? Are you interested in anyone?" I ask, my heart racing.

She chews her lip and then looks at me. "His name is Evan Winters. He's nice, and handsome, and just... great."

She smiles at me, and a little dimple forms at her left cheek. She seems so small, so fragile. Then again, she isn't. She may seem dwarfed against my height, but her smile makes her seem ten feet tall. Her body isn't as slender and lanky as the other girls in London. Her body is full, and she seems easier to hold.

"When do I get to meet him?" I ask,  wanting to meet and asses this guy so I know how to treat Stella right.... If anything ever happens. Nothing will.

"When do you start school?" she queries.

"When I'm mostly done unpacking, which shouldn't be long. Not much to carry when there's only three of us."

I notice her nose has gone really pink, and that she's constantly rubbing her fingers. "I'm cold," she mumbles. I grin, and pull her up from the swing.

"Are there any nearby coffee shops? My treat." I offer, sticking my hand out for her. She takes it, and it feels small in mine.

She leads me a few blocks away, and we find a littke strip mall. "It was built two or three years ago." She informs me, leading me into a little shop called "Brew".

It's empty save for the lone student in the corner. Possibly a college kid. Stella pulls me into a booth, and shrugs her jacket off, revealing a fitted v-neck with sleeves to her wrist. I avert my eyes, trying not to glance at her well endowment. After a minute of staring at my fingertips, Stella touches my hand and says "Hot Chocolate?"

I nod at her and get up to buy us some. She's dusting off the little snowflakes in her hair, and I can't help but grin like an idiot at her.

"Your girlfriend?" a girl's voice asks. I face the till to see the teller waiting patiently. Her name is Aly.

"Wouldn't that be lovely?" I say with a laugh.

"Cool accent," she smirks.

"Cheers," I say as I'm handed the two drinks.  I return to the table to find Stella looking at her phone. I slide into the chair next to her after putting our coats on the seat opposite.

"Thanks," she takes a sip from the chocolate and her rosy complexion returns. I bite my lip to keep myself from smiling to big. she looks so adorable right now.

After we spend an hour in the coffeshop together, it starts to get crowded. We leave, and I notice it snowed a lot more. Stella takes my hand as she guides me back to the park, and immediately flops down on the snow in front of me. "Snow angels!" she announces.

I laugh, and then join her by getting in the snow a meter away. After getting up, she starts laughing. "What are you going on about?" I ask her.

"My angel looks so tiny compared to yours!" Her smile lights up her entire face. She proceeds to take out her phone and snap a picture of it.

"What now?" I query, and she chews her lip, deep in thought.

She leans down and scoops some snow into her hand. After shaping it, I realize what she's doing. Before I duck to dodge, she's already thrown it at me, hitting me in the shoulder. "Snowball fight!" she screams, turning around. She underestimates how thick the snow is and falls over. I'm laughing so hard that my stomach hurts. I scoop up snow as she turns around, but she sprints off towards the teeter totter.

"Good aim," I compliment, "but mine's better!"

"But I'm cuter!" She boasts.

You are, Stella. You are.
