North's POV:

The sunlight filtering through the branches of the tree are what woke me up and I was almost panicked as to why the fuck I was outside in a tree before reality snapped back into place. We escaped. Me and Sang baby. Fuck, we're safe. Then the panic really did set in when I realized baby wasn't sitting with me anymore.

"Sang baby?" I bellowed loudly. Should I have been more quiet? Probably. Did I give two shits? At the moment no, no I did not.

"Baby, where the fuck are you?" I growled out as I looked around wildly.

Did she fucking fall? I swear to god if she left on her own to go do something I'll fucking put her in a god damn bubble the second I have a chance.

Rustling from beneath me on the other side of the tree caught my attention and I almost fell off the branch I was sitting on as I tried to lean around and see what caused the noise. I pulled out my knife ready to pounce on any undead in a moments notice when out from behind the tree came a red faced Sang baby.

I quickly hopped down from the tree. Ignoring the sting in my feet from the fall as I stormed over to her, faltering when she glared at me before I reached her and snatched her up dragging her into me.

"WHAT THE FUCK SANG! WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU? WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME UP?" I roared at her. I wasn't mad at her. Not really, just worried and I could tell she knew that when she didn't slap the shit out of me.

I roamed my eyes over her petite body, checking for any signs of injury when she mumbled something and my eyes snapped up to hers.

"What?" I growled, and regretted it instantly when her own eyes hardened and she yanked her arm out of my grip and stepped up toe to toe with me and poked me in the chest.

"Damnit North, I had to pee. I was just on the other side of the tree. I didn't go anywhere. I wouldn't fricken leave you here alone." She gritted out between clenched teeth as she kept poking my chest.

I took a step back knowing I overreacted and my eyes widened when she took one forward and continued to poke me in the chest with each word she spoke.

"And now, Fred-Flippin-Flinstone, thanks to your caveman ways and loud voice every undead in the fricken state is gonna be headed our way." She hissed out and I took another step back as I felt my cheeks heat up lightly. I opened my mouth to apologize but snapped it shut when she took another step forward, glare still in place.

"I know your worried North, but I'm not fricken useless. I know how to take care of myself when I need to, I love that you want to protect me and keep me safe, but I swear to god North Taylor, the next time you yell at me like that I will kick you in the nuts so hard you'll be speaking like Alvin and the chipmunks for a week, understand?" She all but growled and I flinched at the use of my full name.

"Baby I..." I started but she interrupted me quickly.

"I said, do you understand?" She hissed as she took another step towards me and I shut my mouth and nodded quickly while covering the family jewels.

"Good, now let's get the hell out of here." She said sweetly. Not an ounce of previous anger left as she whirled around and started matching through the trees.

Well then.

I heard a groan from an undead and quickly got my ass in gear to catch up to Sang baby, who was already 30 yards ahead of me. It was quiet as we walked and I wanted to say sorry for acting the way I had towards her. I knew she wasn't useless, I knew she could take care of herself, but I also couldn't help it. I panicked. I was worried, and when I'm worried I yell.

After a few more minutes of complete silence between us, I couldn't take it anymore. Not knowing if she was still angry or not left a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, although it also could have been because I was hungry as fuck, but that's besides the point.

I gently knocked my hand against hers as we continued to walk downhill. Testing the waters. I definitely didn't want to make her even angrier by just snatching her hand up the "caveman way". She didn't yank her hand away, but she didn't grab mine either so I took it as she still needed time to cool down.

Not even 30 seconds after that thought went through my head, her soft little hand knocked into mine. I slowly wrapped my hand around hers, rubbing it as my way of apologizing, I'd have to really apologize later, but for now it would do.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw the small smile on her face as she glanced down at our joined hands and had to bite back my own dopey grin. We were okay again, and at the moment that was all that mattered.

We walked for about an hour and a half before the trees cleared up revealing a small neighborhood. It was quiet and from what I could see from my vantage point in a nearby tree there weren't any undead around at the moment, but that didn't mean it would stay that way. I climbed down from the tree quickly as possible and pulled Sang baby off to the side.

"Alright baby. We go into that house, change our clothes, get some supplies, find a car nearby and get the hell off this base. You ready?" I asked after I pointed out a house nearby that we were going to enter.

She nodded and her eyes scanned the area quickly before zeroing in on the house. A raw determination set in them I haven't seen before, or maybe I'd just never looked close enough.

She looked at me and smiled grabbing my hand and squeezing quickly, before we both took off across the street towards the house hoping to all thing holy we could get in and get the fuck out of here with no problems.
