Delilah's P.O.V.
My own safety was as good as forgotten as I dived right in after him, doing a much better dive than he did. Wind rushed frantically passed my ears until I felt the freezing cold water completely engulf my already soaked body. The water was just as murky as I had predicted, and all I could see was dark green everywhere, my eyes stinging from what I didn't know was salt water. I had to grasp blindly through the water in hopes of grabbing Harry, but I got more and more doubtful when everytime I was left empty handed. Where was he? He couldn't be that deep, could he?
Despite my thoughts I continued to search through the water, my movements growing more sloppy with the time that passed. There was no way I was going to give up, but I'd have to go up for air any second now. I kicked my feet with as much strength that I could muster, trying to get myself further into the water.
Just as my lungs were about to let out the breath I was holding, I felt something fluttery and soft in the water. I yanked wildly, and sure enough I felt a head and body follow behind the hair. I pulled the rest of the body into mine and within seconds I could breath again. I heaved the oxygen like never before, kicking my feet at the same time so we wouldn't go back under.
I blinked the water out of my eyes and looked down at his face, Harry's features much paler than usual. His usually vivid green orbs were hiding behind his pearly lids. Panicking, I instantly swam towards the cemented sides, dragging Harry and myself up. Exhausted, I sat back for a few seconds to catch my breath before settling myself onto Harry's torso.
"Harry!" I shouted close to his ear, slapping his cheek. "Harry, wake up!"
When I got no response, I frantically felt for a pulse. Relief flooded through my body when I felt a small pumping action at his wrist. It was faint, but it was still still there. I began doing CPR in case there was any water in his lungs, holding his mouth open with my shaking hands and pressing my own against his. Such soft lips... No, no time to think about that.
I pushed as much oxygen down his throat as I could, praying I was doing it right. His chest rose and fell with every breath o took. After a few puffs I pulled back, noticing his body was shaking roughly. I rolled Harry onto his side just as water began spewing from his mouth, choking noises filling my ears as he gushed out all of the water. How did he swallow so much?
Harry took a few shaky breaths before rolling onto his back again, his eyes closed as his chest heaved up and down at an alarming rate. He slowly peeled his eye lids back, his green saucers rimmed with red from the water as he stared at me expectantly.
"You," I began, my voice cracking and raw. "You are the biggest fucking idiot on this planet."
I gripped the neck of his shirt and lifted him up, circling my arms tightly around him and crying into the shoulder of his soaked shirt. At first he was unresponsive, but after a few seconds his arms lifted from his sides and he hugged me just as tightly.
"I'm so sorry," he rasped, patting my head as I buried into the crook of his neck.
"So you should be," I cried pathetically, hugging him even tighter. "How dare you try and leave without saying goodbye? And to try and kill yourself? What the fuck, Harry?! Do you realise how much that would have hurt me?"
"I didn't think I meant all that much to you."
I sat back slightly to look at him in bewilderment, a small flush threatening to creep up my neck when I realised I was sitting in his lap. "You are a fool if you think you don't mean that much to me. You're my best friend, Harry," I frowned, sniffling.
Harry stared back at me with his cat-like eyes, a small smile etching onto his face. "Thank you," he whispered, pulling me back in and squeezing me tigher than before. I found myself smiling as well, hugging him back easily.
"We should probably get out of this rain," Harry said thoughtfully, shuffling underneath me.
"Yeah," I sighed tiredly, struggling to lift myself from his warm embrace and shivering as the icy rain pelted into my skin. I'd actually forgetten that it was raining. Harry's smile was beautiful as he stood from the hard ground as well, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and hugging me into his side.
"What time do your parents get home?" he asked as we began to walk up the stairs and back up to the bridge.
"Around 10 o'clock tonight," I shrugged, enjoying the warmth that his body provided. My muscles were aching from the workout I just did, but I wasn't complaining. I'd gotten Harry back.
"What am I gonna do?" he sighed, more to himself than me. I frowned, also wondering about his little question. What would happen to Harry? He couldn't exactly stay at my house, my parents would freak out if they even knew I had a boy living under their roof for the past 3 days. But if he were to go anywhere else, he would get clearly be caught and taken straight to prison.
This was gonna be harder than I thought.
