DURING MY LAST FEW DAYS ON EARTH, I MET THE DEVIL HIMSELF. While walking around the city of Chicago, I juggled my water-bottle and a new backpack as I comb through the congested walkway. I must've lost my footing because I tripped and bumped right into him. Mortified, I glanced behind at the most handsome man I've ever seen in my life.
My cheeks burned swirls of light pinks and reds as my eyes scanned every inch of the Devil. His emerald green eyes matched perfectly with his semi-curly chocolate brown hair. His fair complexion without an fault to be seen can cause anyone to become stricken with envy. With his charming looks, any woman who laid her eyes on him would've swooned.
I couldn't help but breathe in his unique scent- smoke and firewood. Being the gentleman no one would've ever thought he'd be, the Devil helped me up. "I'll tell you later." The Devil responded with a chuckle. A hint of crimson seemed to dance across his emerald eyes; only to disappear seconds later. "You've got an interview to attend, don't you?"
Before I could even manage to stutter out a response, the Devil was gone with a snap of his fingers. The crowd began to move again, some crashing into me like waves. Puzzled, I glanced around the crowd for the handsome stranger. He was nowhere to be seen. I let out a sigh, stole a sip out of my water-bottle and turned back. There was no way I would be able to sit through an interview.
When I arrived at my apartment, I slipped through the door and inhaled the cool air. I plopped my items down on the nearest object and looked around the room for my sister, Faye. If she wasn't at work, Faye was always around the apartment. She spent her free time reading and adding chapters to her novels. That day, Faye was nowhere to be seen. I took this as an advantage and collapsed onto the ground right then and there.
I was already prepared for another fight between Faye and I. What was I going to say? I inquired, my fingers weaving themselves between pieces of my hair. I didn't attend the interview...
