The Book of: M.O.D.Y (Part 1)

Chapter II- a journey to the unknown

The O.D.Y discussed the matter for three days, But finally, they agreed to send M.O.D.Y

to the other planet, M.O.D.Y has prepared his tools and resources to study the land of the planet, and he took some survival supplies such as water, food, fire starter- which seemed odd because the planet had lava on it-, oxygen tanks and a miniature farm that would grow wheat and carrots.

David Young was in a sad depressed place as he saw his little boy preparing to leave, David knew the mission was only for a few days, but he always had this feeling that something will happen and he won't see his boy ever again.

 David Young was a sage man and very smart, he noticed that M.O.D.Y behaved strangely as if he were to talk to himself and argue with someone. For some odd reason M.O.D.Y sometimes spoke in a weird screechy voice he sounded ill, but after a few sentences his normal voice will come back and reply to the screeching voice.

 David was investigating the matter for a week, and he found out that M.O.D.Y had developed a new consciousness because of the unique role that M.O.D.Y is getting ready for, the usual voice was The Scout side, and the weird screechy voice was the warrior side.

 The mission is in twenty-four hours, M.O.D.Y hasn't seen David young in two days and was worried that something had happened to him. M.O.D.Y looked around the O.D.Y, and David Young is nowhere to be found, M.O.D.Y looked around Shmelkte the safest Nople village in Thea, but still, David was missing.

Twenty-two hours until the mission M.O.D.Y was sitting in his room waiting, worrying about David young he laid down on his bed reliving the great times with David. The first day in David's garage when David taught M.O.D.Y how to speak, how to walk, He remembered the smile on David's face and the cheering he did when M.O.D.Y succeeded in the simplest of tasks.

 M.O.D.Y drifted into sleep for four hours then rapid knocks on his door awoke him he's it was the mission operatives trying to get M.O.D.Y to the training but unfortunately, David wasn't there with them. 

M.O.D.Y took the last training wondering if David will ever turn up before he's sent away, M.O.D.Y was asked to fill out papers about the mission and to write recipes for poisons and chemicals, and ways to make a better robot army.

 As M.O.D.Y was writing he hears a voice calling "Mody!?" it was bizarre as people never called him Mody they always used the original name M.O.D.Y.

 M.O.D.Y was an acronym for Memory Of David Young because ironically David Young was so old that he couldn't get married and have kids he was so focused on his work in the O.D.Y that he didn't date or even see other people. that's why he cherished Mody, and Mody was the only memory of David young, the voice called "Mody!" several times until Mody stood up and replied "who's there? Hello?"

"Mody! You're here,"

"David Young? Is that you? I thought something happened to you"

"I am fine, don't you worry and call me dad please you're my son after all"

Mody paused for a second, it was the second time David called him his son. Mody ran towards David and hugged him and said: "I love you, dad!"

"I love you too Mody, don't-" said David with a breaking voice and tears down his cheeks. 

"- Don't make this harder Mody I might not see you ever again so, please. After fourteen hours when you head to the mission, I will give you something then."

"don't say that, I will meet you again it's just a few days and I'll be back, right?"

"Yes, but who knows what happens, maybe the Poples attack"

"The Poples won't attack," Mody said with confidence " I trained the robots like you used to train me, with a smile and a big celebration after"

David's eyes broke with tears as Mody said those words and Mody started talking in a different voice saying "I will miss you, David."

David left the room to rest in his room and Mody continued to write.

Nine hours till the mission Mody finished the papers and left a program for the future robot army, and a large weapon that looked like a cannon but it was weirdly shaped as in that the barrel of the cannon could change and be replaced. The ammo for the cannon was weird pyramids that are yellow at night purple at day it was the strangest cannon at all, and the O.D.Y never knew how to work it and use it.

Mody went to Shmelkte to look for souvenirs to take with him to the planet, he was roaming around the shops and that's where he met the head operative of the mission, Leo kenchen he asked Mody kindly "M.O.D.Y! There you are, come I need you in a simple matter"

"call me Mody please"

"oh okay Mody, I need you in something important, you know its only nine hours until the mission right?"

"yes sir, I know"

"well for now we just call the planet "The Planet" would you do the honor of naming the planet so we can publish it in the papers?"

"sir, I.. I have to think about this, this is an honorable thing to do, I think I need some more time to think"

"okay but hurry we only have nine hours!"

and Leo ran away like he was being chased, but he had every right to run as the place was dangerous for an O.D.Y operative.

Seven hours till the mission, Mody returned to the O.D.Y and headed to Leo's office, Leo normally was very welcoming, he said as he lead Mody to the chair "Great to meet you again Mody, we are very proud of your sacrifices to help the Noples advance in science!" he stopped talking for a minute then continued "so have the great Mody decided on a name for the planet up above?"

Mody responds with a pleased confidant tone " I decided to call it the best name that could ever be, the most beautiful name of all, I shall name it "The Earth" I know it seems simple and boring but it defines the motherhood of Thea as the legend foretold that Thea had a mother and the people of Thea called it MotherEarth"

Leo sat there looking surprised and touched and said: "well then, Earth it is".

Six hours till the mission Mody is eating a meal at the cafeteria of the O.D.Y it was the original O.D.Y lunch some of Thean bird meat as he eats his meal he imagines what could be on that planet, and would it have life in the future or it will be like the other planets red hot and dead which made the Mody sad because he wanted to make friends with whatever species would spring from that planet.

Five hours till the mission David young is writing something in his room no one knows what he's writing but he was stressed that he went through three stacks of paper and still he's throwing them away.

Three hours till the mission

Mody is getting ready bringing the bags and the cargo, with Mody-designed machines such as the G.R.C (Ground Radiation Calculator) which might not become handy as the Noples don't use radiated materials.

1 hour till the mission Mody, David young and the mission crew are getting the rocket ready pumping fuel into it, Mody is getting dressed for the mission and tensions are high, every single member of the O.D.Y is worried that this mission is going south, especially David young because he might lose his son, Ten minutes until boarding David goes to the Mody and says while giving him a paper scroll "Son, take care of this, Don't open it until you land on Earth read it carefully and don't get scared, I will always be with you as long as you keep this scroll safe".

Mody is on the ship, and the only thing in his head is what did David mean by "I will always be with you" is David young dying? Or am I not going to see him again.

Leo started the final count down from 20, Mody is getting butterflies in his stomach, 15, David is wishing good luck to Mody as he is all alone on that ship and its a 4 day trip to Earth, 5, Mody is sweating and he feels that his heart is "breaking" that he is leaving his dad maybe forever considering that last conversation which is confusing and worrying, 3 2 1 the engines start, the ship lifts off the ground, the smoke cloud blinds the entire site, and a journey of four days starts with hope.
