Chapter Ten - Phil

We tip-toed into our flat carful not to wake our neighbors. Dan tried to hold back tears but you could tell he wasn't okay. After all his homophobic parents had just seen him on a date with another guy.

As soon as we walked into our apartment he immediately ran to his room, slamming the door behind him. I knocked on his door and noticed it was locked. "Dan? Are you alright? I'm sorry." No response. "Babe? Just um just come out when your ready okay?" No response...then crying. I opened the door and raced into the bedroom to see Dan curled up in a ball on the floor. "Dan do you wa-" I gasped as I noticed a awful bruise on his knee that has left a huge hole in his pant leg. I'm not sure why I hadn't noticed the blood dripping from his nose on the way home. Or the bad scraps on his arms. I sat next to him and opened my arms letting Dan cry into my chest. "I love you Phil I'm sorry." I wasn't sure why he was sorry but regardless I whispered 'I love you' back. I stood up carefully picking him up with me. He asked to be alone so I went to the kitchen to make some tea.

"Phil...can I um can I sleep with you tonight?"
"Dan of course!" I wrapped my arms around him and walked him to my bed.
"I'll be back in a minute okay? I'm just going to get us some tea." I grabbed the cups and headed back into my bedroom.

Dan had calmed down a little but was still afraid. Afraid of what his parents would do to him the next time he saw them. Crawling under the sheets I turned towards him and smiled. He ran his hand though my hair and I tried hard not to giggle. "You are adorable." He said. After a while he shut his eyes as I wrapped my arms around him. Sleep taking us both.
