Chapter ten:

Little golden Rams

Andromeda's head was spinning. She didn't know what had gotten into her. Why all of a sudden did she feel butterflies when Aeros smiled at her? Why did she often find herself thinking about him when she slept? Things became unclear and jumbled in her head. As they flew away Andromeda couldn't help look at Aeros as they flew. They landed at the base of Mount Olympus where green lush grass grew and a stream trickled down into the sea.

They were sent here to capture two golden rams. "I think we should hide the horses so the rams are not scared off by them." Andromeda suggested. "How small are these rams?" Aeros asked tying his horse to a tree. "They are about from the ground to the middle of your shin." She said placing the side of her hand in the middle of her shin. They silently stalked through the bushes and listened for any sound of animals. Up a head Aeros could see a clearing. He motioned in the direction of the clearing and began to walk towards it. Aeros legs had healed without a single scar.

Andromeda followed close behind smelling the sweet smell of pine from the trees he had been running through. They searched through the brush and saw agleam gold in the distance. "I see them up ahead. The trick is to be gentle with them as if they were a tiny puppy." Aeros whispered. Andromeda nodded and followed in Aeros' lead. They stood up and saw a herd of tiny golden rams. They slowly walked out of the brush and knelt down close to them. Their wool was a perfect golden curl. Their golden horns curled out.

Suddenly one of them saw them kneeling and trotted over to Aeros. He was like a little kitten. He rubbed up against his legs and made circles around him. Aeros put his hand down and stroked the ram's Golden Fleece. "I guess he likes you." Andromeda said. The little ram jumped up on with his front hooves and scratched his knee. "Pick him up. He likes you now." Andromeda urged. Aeros placed his hands under the ram's front legs and picked him up and held him against his chest as if the ram was a puppy.

Andromeda felt a pawing at her right knee. She looked down and saw a ram standing on its hind legs wanting to be held. Andromeda picked the soft creature up and held it against her chest. "They are softer than I thought they'd be!" Andromeda exclaimed. Suddenly there was a rustle in a nearby thorn bush. "Please tell me that's not a monster." She whispered to Aeros. "Hold very still. I forgot about the giant lizard that guards them. As long as we remain still it will not attack us." Aeros whispered back. Suddenly a red head poked out of a lush green bush. It flicked its pick tongue in and out.

"It hasn't sensed us. I will take the rams you watch the lizard." Andromeda whispered. Andromeda slowly stood up with the ram in her hand. With her free hand she lifted the ram in Aeros' arms. She held the two creatures close to her. She could feel there little heart beats. As she back away she noticed Aeros tense as he watched the lizard emerge from the bush.

As she walked away one of the rams began to squirm. It began to slip out of her grasp. Andromeda looked behind her and saw they were almost there. She looked at Aeros. He was standing and had his sword in hand. Her back touched the saddle on Aeros' horse. She slowly turned. The ram squirmed more. Quickly before it slipped away she placed it in his saddle bag. She quickly went to Hercules and placed the other ram in his saddle bag.

She saw Aeros who had locked eyes with the lizard. She drew her sword and slowly walked towards him. She came by his side. He didn't notice. He was busy watching the lizard. The lizard had stone cold eyes and a pelt the color of fire. "What happens if I kill it?" She whispered to him. "It will come back to life moments later. I will stay focused on the lizard you cut the head off." He whispered. The lizard didn't pay any mind to her. She slowly walked around the lizard coming on its side. She knew if she missed Aeros would probably die. Suddenly as she got into place the lizard lunged towards Aeros' leg. Its tail quickly swung back and forth behind it. Andromeda didn't have time to think. She quickly lifted her sword and sliced through its head. The head rolled on the ground and into a bush of thorns. They looked at each other and smiled with relief. Andromeda and Aeros sheathed their swords. Suddenly it hit them. When that lizard comes back to life it is going to come after them and kill them. They ran to the horses as fast as their feet could carry them.

They flung themselves in the saddles. Andromeda looked back and saw the fiery skin of the lizard barreling towards them. Andromeda gave a swift kick and Hercules took flight. As she looked down the lizard snapped the air. She looked at Aeros. She gave her a gentle smile. Suddenly a screech pierced the silence. Andromeda and Aeros looked back. A black leathery creature flew towards them. Andromeda could see its eyes. Its eyes were pure red and had bright white teeth dripping with saliva. "Aeros dive! NOW!" Andromeda yelled. Andromeda pushed Hercules neck down towards the ground. Andromeda's hair streamed behind her as the clouds disappeared and the ground appeared. "When I say pull up!" She shouted over the roaring of the wind. Aeros nodded.

The creature was feet away from them. Andromeda turned and looked close at it. It had a nine tail cat wipe in its hand. She knew what it was. A fury. Andromeda looked ahead and instantly pulled up. Aeros followed her move. With luck they didn't hit the ground they flew up high back into the clouds. The fury still trailer behind them. Andromeda looked at Mount Olympus. She stopped a giant ledge out of the corner of her eye. She yanked Hercules in that direction. Aeros followed close by her. The fury screeched as it came closer. Andromeda didn't something crazy. She drew her sword and jumped to the ledge.

It all moved in slow motion as Andromeda hit the ground. Aeros still flew in the air with Hercules still flew ahead of him. Reality caught up and the fury landed on the ledge. Andromeda locked eyes with the black creature. It cracked its whip on the ground and hissed. It barred teeth dripping with poisoned saliva. Andromeda smiled a devilish smile and attacked. She dodged the whips and lunged. Instead of hitting its body she hit its wing. The wing sliced off and fell to the ground. The fury launched the whips at her. Andromeda jumped back and cut them at the claws of the whip gripped the ground.

The shock of release of the tight hold knocked the fury on its back. Andromeda saw it try to get to the edge. She stepped on its throat. She raised the sword above her head. "Go back to hell." She said. She plunged the sword into its chest. The fury stopped struggling and died instantly. Andromeda stepped off the dead fury and sat down. She held her head in her hands and began to breath heavy. The shock of the adrenalin hit her hard. Suddenly Aeros landed on the ledge and jumped off to her side. He kneeled in front of her and placed his hands on her shoulders. "Andromeda, look at me. It's over the fury is dead. Just breathe and try to relax." He said in a soothing voice.

Andromeda looked up at his face. Tears fell from her cheeks. She lurched forward and embraced him in a hug. Aeros wrapped his arms around her. The shock of what was happening hit her like an arrow. She was happy to have Aeros for support. If she didn't have him there she would be have not made it.
