Chapter 3

Keely's POV

I walk out of the school building and see Shawn's car, walk over and hop in.

"Are you ok with going to see her? Mum, I mean?" Shawn asks, looking at me worriedly.

"Yeah, I think I should be fine. Thanks again for doing this Shawn." I say, kissing his cheek.

"It's fine. What else are brothers for right?" he says back with a slight laugh. 

Once we arrive at the hospital I feel the tears coming back to my eyes. we walked up to the desk and asked for mum's room. 

"room 213" after that, I went running towards the room when I got there and saw my mum's almost lifeless body laying there I let every tear that I had been holding back out. (i was an emotional rec) I opened the door and walked to her side.  

"Mum I know you probably can't hear me but I just wanted to let you know that I will never give up on you even if it looks like you won't make it. I will not give up hope. I love you." And with that, I walked out of the room.

Shawn's POV 

I woke up to my phone ringing, I recognised the number as the hospital so I answered.  

phone convo S= Shawn HP= Hospital

S:"Hello?"

HP:"Hello this is St Gilberts Hospital we are calling in regards to Mrs Stevens."

S:"OH MY GOD what happened?" 

HL:"well you see she had some complications last night and the doctors did the best they could but unfortunately that wasn't enough. I'm sorry but she died." 

S:"well thank you for the call. Goodbye."

And with that, I hung up.   

I am not usually a crier but as soon as I hung up, I let the tears fall. My mum and step-dad both died within the space of 2 weeks. They won't get to see some many milestones in my life.

Our lives. Keely. What am I gonna tell her? The truth? I have to. I don't want to lie to her. I am the only family she has left.

Keely's POV   

I woke up and heard Shawn talking on the phone so being the nosey little sister I am I decided to listen.

S:"Hello?"

I waited for him to hear what the person on the other end of the line had to say.

S:"OH MY GOD what happened?"

I waited for a little longer this time, guessing the person on the phone had more to say.

S:"Well thank you for the call. Goodbye."

And then I am guessing he hung up because it went quiet and then all you could hear was him crying. I thought that this would be a good time to walk into his room so I opened the door.

"Shawn..." I said before being pulled into a bear hug and squeezed really hard.

"Keely I am so sorry...." he started, before stepping out of the hug, grabbing my hands and looking me in the eyes.

"I was just in the phone with the hospital and they called to tell me that... that... mum died. The doctors tried everything but they couldn't save her."
