Just Pretend

I sat at a glass rectangular table in the hall. I was wearing a little lilac dress, with my hair framing my face.

"Yes, Macy and I will be ruling the kingdom in peace." Said Luke calmly, who was squished beside me, his arm wrapped around my waist.

"I am ever so excited." I spat through gritted teeth.

We were at our celebratory lunch.

'Just pretend. Just pretend. Just pretend...' I thought bitterly.

"Miss Macy, I am so looking forward to your wedding-" but that women did not have time to finish because I immediately sat up and ran to the oak doors.

I pushed a door and scanned the hall for a bench.

Bingo.

I found one! I sat down, tugging off my flats. They were killing me.

I immediately sighed and wiped my forehead with the back of my hand.

I saw Valentine out of the corner of my eye, she swept over.

Valentine sat down next to me and sobbed, "He's the ugliest son of a gun, he is."

I realized that she was talking about Luke, so I turned to stare at her.

"What did he do?" I asked curiously.

"Walked into my room last night. Told me that he was gonna marry someone else so that he could be rich and famous. Told me that I should be happy for him and that I need to leave him alone." She spat, "He slapped me."

I immediately felt sorry for her.

"He slapped you!?" I exclaimed, furious.

"We have to tell my mom that he slapped you."

"No!" She cried, tears were pouring down her face.

She obviously still had feelings for Luke.

We sat in silence for a minute. I could practically feel the tension buzzing between us.

"I'm going to go talk to Luke." I said, flinging on my shoes and storming to the doors.

She looked like she was about to protest, but I winked at her and walked through the doors.

I glanced at all the people, then up was the throne. Behind the throne sat the evil little glass table.

I sprinted, despite my silk dress, to the table. People looked at me from every direction.

I could smell the steak, and potatoes. My mouth was starting to water.

I got to the table and slammed my hands on it. They all looked outraged at me, and I could see Stephanie, the girl who I cut off earlier. She had curly brown hair and a large nose, her lipstick looked like a heart.

Stephanie glared at me and looked to Luke. She fluttered her eyelashes at him, trying to annoy me.

Yeah, like that was going to work. Try Valentine instead.

"Luke," she muttered in her strong British accent, "Your - ah - fiancé, is here." She giggled.

"Luke!" I snarled, "You idiot! You slapped Valentine! You were also rude! And, oh! Did I mention that you SLAPPED her?!"

I was not going to let him get out of this one.

"Psh! No! She's lying!" Luke spat, and Stephanie just placed her chin on his shoulder and dazed up at him.

"Macy, she's stupid. To not listen to Luke, why... That's bloody stupid of her. He's so strong, and fierce, and controlling..." She trailed off.

Luke just sat there and smirked like an idiot.

"Go rot in a cave!" I shrieked at him.

"Honey, our wedding is tomorrow." Luke said, smiling.

My face was blank, but inside I could feel a hundred other emotions

burning. Tomorrow? No! It was too fast. I had only heard about me being engaged the night before.

My heart pounded in my ears, I could sense everyone in the hall staring at me. I could feel that they were glad I was marrying, why, I was crazy in their eyes!

I gulped and muttered, "Tomorrow?"

Luke just nodded, he looked very pleased. Luke picked up his jug of beer and chugged it down.

"NO!" I shrieked, tears streaming down my face.
