2 - The Diary

"Where did you last see him?" Sherlock had been questioning Anderson for the last 15 minutes.
"Here. Roughly 3 and a half hours ago."
"Did he say where he was going?"
"Yes. To get lunch."
"I already know that. Don't be so stupid, Anderson. Where did he go for lunch?"
"Do you really have to ask me? Why can't you talk to someone else?"
"Everyone helpful is busy doing important things."
"I was busy!"
"Yes but I am sure it can't be that important if you are doing it. Just answer my question and stop being so... Well... Irritating."
"Fine. I think he went to EAT. Or possibly Costa."
"Okay brilliant. Where is his office?"
"Just down there." He pointed to a door across the room.
"Okay."

Lestrade's office was messy. It would have taken ages for a normal person to find anything in that room. Sherlock found it immediately. His diary. He flicked to the current day. 14/10/16. Nothing had been written yet. It was odd that Lestrade had left his diary in his office but it was even more odd that he hadn't even written in it that day. In fact, what was even more strange is that he hadn't written in it all week. He carefully looked through the previous week. Nothing had been written. He kept looking back further and further until he came to 24/07/16. Nearly 3 months? He always kept a record of everything that happened to him. This was weird. Sherlock pushed this information away for a while. His patterns can't have changed that much in the last 3 months. There it was. Every day he had been going to the same place. Costa.
"John... JOHN!!!!"
"Sherlock?" He had just walked in after trying to get more information from Anderson. He was unsuccessful.
"Oh be quiet, John. I am going to get a coffee."
"Right now?"
"Yes."
"In the middle of a case?"
"Yes. Come on. Let's go."
"Okay then."
