Trust me Chapter 12

“Hey Amy, which one do you like more?” Emma asks as I walk in the door. I close the door and look at Emma; standing in front of me with two red dresses.

“That one.” I point to the one strap tight cheery red dress she has in her right hand.

“Good. You can go look in my closet for a dress you like. We have to meet with Adam in an hour.” She smiles as she hurries to the bathroom. I remove my shoes and take off my jacket; I slowly make my way to Emma’s room.

“Are you okay, Amy?” Emma asks concerned as we both step inside her room.

“I’m fine, just tired.” I lie. I settle down on her bed and sit there as Emma pulls out some dresses from her closet.

“Want to try these on?” Emma has a handful of dresses. Usually I’d jump at the chance to try something beautiful on; but today is just…not good.

“I have to use the bathroom.” I tell her as I try to casually walk to the bathroom; before I can make it there is shoves a handful of dresses in my hand. I sigh, knowing I won’t be able to get out of this and take the dresses. Once I close the door I flip down the toilet seat cover and sit. I close my eyes for a few moments and breathe. Just breathe, just breathe. trying to get Sam off my mind is harder then I thought. I thought this afternoon would have been relaxing, but I was mistaken.

“I lost my brother, Amy.” He repeated, the words shivered my body to the last bone. I knew the words stung, his face said it all; hurt, loss.

“I can’t deal with this…I can’t.” I couldn’t face him, even a meter away and I could spare to look. I stare down at the paved road, I’m trying to push back tears from falling, and I’m trying to hold in all my feelings. I could hear his feet thump against the pavement, I held my breath. Then his arms wrapped around me, out of no where. And almost like an instinct I fell into his open arms and began to shed some tears.

“Would Nick want to see you cry?” Sam whispers in my hair. I shake my head slowly.

“I just miss him.” I whisper, he shakes his head in agreement. I step back and wipe the remaining tears away. “I want to go home.” Sam nods his head , he gestures to in front of us, to keep walking. And that’s what I did, I moved on. We walked for a few minutes in an absolute silence, and I really needed it.

“Are you almost done in there?” Emma knocks on the wooden door. I get corrupted from my flashback and quickly grab the first dress I can get a hold of and change into it.

“Give me a minute.” I respond as I strip down and throw on a candy-apple red dress. I twist the door knob and open the door.

“You look great !” We say at the same time. Emma is wearing a purple strapless dress, it cuts above the knees. The material looks silky, with a light as air feel. Emma smiles brightly, and does a three-sixty.

“Look at you though! You need to wear this, he will love you in this.” Emma keeps smiling then claps her hands.

“Wait, I thought we were just going to dinner with your boyfriend.” I raise a brow in curiosity.

“Oh we are, but Adam found someone for you. He works with him, he’s really nice and really cute.” She winks then heads to her room. I follow her footsteps.

“I don’t think I’m ready to be going on a date-” I begin but Emma cuts me off.

“Look, I know you need a distraction from what’s going on right now…maybe he might be it. Just go tonight then we can judge from there, alright ?” She does a reassuring smile then digs in her closet for some shoes.
