Trust me Chapter 5

It wasn’t long until the press found a way to sneak in the Verizon centre, Sam and I were still waiting for the paramedics to arrive. I was still in Sam’s arms, still sitting on the ground. I felt like I couldn’t do anything, but cry. Secret service and some security guards from the arena blocked off all entry paths from the press.

Can’t they see that I want to be alone, why are they still here? My little brother is dead and all they care about is what will be the headline?

“Amanda.” Sam whispered. “You should call your dad.” I knew he was right, I should be calling my dad or mom, but once I say that Nick is gone, once I say it out loud…It will be true.

The paramedics rushed down the hallway, bringing a stretcher with them, one of them had a first aide bag, he was pulling out a bunch of things, medicine, needles, bandages.

I picked up myself off the floor. Waiting for them to come out with my brother, from the room you could hear them yelling medical terms that I couldn’t understand. Then few moments of silence came from them, I wanted so badly to see what they were doing, but Sam still had is grip on my arms, I was to weak to fight back.

Silently they came by us, with Nick’s body in a body bag. They came out slower, like as if they were walking. Nick was gone, really gone. I couldn’t process this, it felt like I was in someone else’s night mare not mine, like someone else world was crashing down. I cried even more, turning my body into Sam’s so I wouldn’t see , what I didn’t want to. I put my head on Sam’s chest, whishing my parents were here, I wish I didn’t have to deal with this alone.

“Amanda?” Someone yelled. I turned my head to see panic all over Alex’s face, he was worried, scared. But once he looked at Sam holding me , his face went to anger. I let go of Sam, walking towards Alex. He put his anger aside and stared at me.

“What’s wrong?” he asked as he wiped the tears of my cheek. I wanted to speak but no words were coming out, I opened my mouth but nothing came out.

“Nicks gone.” Sam said in a whisper.

Alex looked shocked, I cried a bit harder, why is this happening to me, why did I have to lose my brother? Alex pulled me into an embrace, I held on to him tightly.

“Amanda Murray.” Someone said, once I lifted up my head I saw a police officer. He said my name again. I walked over to him.

“Hi Amanda, I am officer Scott, first off I’m so sorry about your loss.” He said without any emotion, like as if he was stating a fact.

‘Thank you.” I said quietly.

“We already contacted your parents, they will be here a couple of hours. In the mean time we’d like to ask you a few questions.”

I nodded.

“Come with me.” Officer Scott said. I followed him silently.

“Wait!” Sam called out. Sam met up with me, “Do you need me to go with you ?”

“Amanda do you want me to go with you?” Alex asked as he stood on the other side of me. I looked at both of them.

“No, its alright. I need to do this on my own.” I told them, Alex nodded.

“I’m sorry.” he whispered. He touched my arm. “It will be ok, sooner or later, it will all work out.” He smiled, I tried to smile but I couldn’t.

“Here Amanda.” Sam said , I looked at him. “ Give me your phone.” I did. He pushed a bunch of buttons. “If you ever need me call me.”

“Thanks.” I told him.
