I got there, I wrote my exams and my parents decided I should wait for her since she was also writing exams and was almost done. Two weeks before she finished, I fell seriously sick! With malaria, or so I was told. During the period of my illness while in Delta, I had this recurring dream. I was under the water. The water was sweet and I didn't have to breath! It was awesome because on a normal day, I can't swim to save my life. Believe me, I tried. Some thing kept calling me, "Vanessa! Vanessssaaa!" Drawing out the 's' like a snake. One time, I woke up dripping wet, with a slug in my hair! It was disgusting really. I made nothing of it because it rained heavily that night.
I went home shortly after my sister was done with her exams and on the night before my departure, I had the strangest dream
I was walking in a forest when suddenly, I heard the voice, 'Vanessssssa!' I was scared to my shoes. In the blink of an eye, the scene changed and I was sitting by a river, rinsing my feet in the cool water. A figure suddenly began to emerge from the waters. I had to shield my eyes because it was so blinding white. After a while, the light simmered down to a little glow, surrounding a beautiful lady. Her hair was a bright white and flowing in gentle waves down her back and stopped at her waist, her eyes were so white it had no pupils and were glowing. Her olive toned skin shimmered like the surface of the water and her lips were as red as blood itself. Her dress was the lightest shade of blue and was as flowing as the wind. When she fully emerged from the water, I noticed that the bottom of her dress was coloured with the deep blues and greens of the ocean and the forest floors. She had no feet and was literally floating towards me. She stopped a few feet away from me and we just stared at each other for a few minutes.
"My child" a voice hissed in my head, "come to me"
I didn't move because, you don't just do that! You don't know what will happen!
"I will not harm you" the voice came again
"Uh... No thanks" I said, slowly creeping away from the water
"Stop!" She said, out loud, "come"
I suddenly couldn't move and I felt myself being pulled towards her
"Take this" she said, putting a necklace in my hand, "Protection"
"Wait who are you?!" I asked as she started fading away
She laughed softly in my head as she said, "River Goddess"I woke with a jolt as if I was shocked with electricity and I felt something in my hand. When I opened my palm, a strange looking pendant was laid carefully in it. It was silver, had a hollow ball in the middle and the end of it was sharp. I touched it and I felt a prick as it broke skin. The oddest thing happened as it stuck in my finger, sucking up blood and slowly filling up the ball.
